There is a science to the exhaust system inside the kawi pipe. It has solved quite a few things:
Emissions ~ We do not look at the cat as some air clogging device. We cannot create or destroy matter, so that does not matter in this case. We want that science and a heat exchanger kind of device. When the hot air leaves the chamber, its heading out really fast. And you want things done fast in an engine. Things done fast make HP. We'll get back to that plugger of yours. In the mean time, back to the science involved. That exhaust pipe header is being cooled by the flowing air. That just slowed down the hot moving air inside the pipe.
Since the normally aspirated engine is not that efficient at burning all the gasoline, some remains unspent inside the pipe. We add the PAIR system with the addition of fresh air headed inside the pipe, this helps to reignite the unspent. This then keeps the heat moving. The cat is created to run hot so it keeps the fire lit or the glowing of the honeycomb is again, the hot air keeps moving faster out the pipe.
Your Pipe ~ Will this make HP? If it was at wide open throttle all day long, then yes, I'd buy two and open the other side for that speed to happen faster out the pipe. That's how practical that exhaust system is. A one hit wonder. Is it for the street? Not really.
Muffler ~ We pretty much have caught up with either the header having a cat or not, it still flows the same. The one pipe system is larger to accommodate the cat's intrusion. So as the header has done it's thing with the PAIR/cat moves, it's time to move down to the muffler and out. What the muffler does are many things. It quiets the noise and the popping on lift. Helps low end power, helps top end power.
The muffler system has many velocity stack type tapers inside the muffler. Other makers do not take that much research, alter the internals in their muffler systems like Kawi does. So for that kind of muffler having that much capacity, it has the ability to perform at all levels of performance and still outperform most exhaust systems: HP wise.
Your Pipe ~ We more or less have this urge to jump in the lake, fly off a building, jump off a bridge, because it's the latest thing to do or to have. And these ideas people come up with so your flight down, brings that HP down with it. You NEED that part! You CRAVE that part! You WANT that part with all that research behind it... And then someone asks you... Dude, are you fa-fafuking nuts? Not my call. JUMP!
How was that response?
