I've lost 80 lbs off my Gen1 but I can't corner any faster with it. It's great for extreme low speed and I'm sure it makes some difference for excelleration. The full system was a big improvement but after that, the weight loss mods were not real noticeable. I do have the busa with very few weight loss mods to compare the 14 to and the cornering speed is the same with either bike for me.

Law of Diminishing Returns, combined with most of us not being skilled enough to benefit from a few reduced pounds.

Rook I'd think the main advantage would be the effort it takes to turn during aggressive riding, not necessarily the ability to actually corner faster. It'd be interesting to see if someone would actually get better lap times around a mixed track with 80 lbs difference.

I'd hope there'd be some benefit, that's quite a drop!

By the same reasoning - most of us are not skilled enough to own a 200 horsepower motorcycle. 80 pounds is a significant weight drop and is felt in almost any riding situation.

Sho nuff!

BTW I was more referring to the smaller 10 - 15 lb weight drops.

Hey ... I haven't weighed mine, but it's prob about 500 lbs, too, no?

This guy shaved >50 lb from his ZX14R. Carbon fiber fairings (looks purple from a distance but close up is carbon fiber), carbon fiber engine side covers and other parts, carbon fiber wheels and 4-1 exhaust. He is in Japan and a Japanese custom house "Shabon-dama" built the bike. Main theme was to make ZX14R light to fit an average size Japanese and to make it easier to drive in Japan where speed limit on some city streets is 25kmh (16mph).
