IMHO your original post says it all, the 14R is an awesome package as it is right now.
A proven & relativly bullet proof package that's fairly simple / cheap to run, in its upkeep.
With big numbers in the torque Dept being high on its list of attributes.
I have no desire for a H2 or similarly complex / expensive to run bike.
The latest 14 apparently has around 5HP less due to Euro emmision regs, so just maybe our current bikes are as good as they'll get ?
All be it with our own finishing touches, unique to our own ends, diverse indeed, possibly THE MOST diverse of all current bikes.
Loving owning mine, now I've thrown some coin at it in the suspension Dept.
EACH TO THERE OWN, but geez a massively huge platform that's hard to see anything else matching.
Johnno.
