Ram Air Ducts
10/11/20 4:14 PM

So I purchased the bike and tore into it to undo some goofy things done to it. Start from scratch. What I discovered is the PO, had removed the ABS black ram-air ducts. The rubber boots attached to the air filter are there. Why? Only god and PO knows. I purchased the ducts of eBay. However they have been messed with to. Nothing big. I just cannot determine what attaches to the ducts. I can determine some things. But I am not sure 100% about everything. So if any of you are pulling your fairings off, can you examine, maybe take some pictures and let me know what attaches where. Mine has several plugged holes in the sides. Two holes in the bottom, that I have no idea what they are for. Plus does anyone what the sensor that mounts on the top, left, all the way forward is?

Thanks
Larry

The bottom holes are probably to let water drain out.

The triangular end goes into the hole in the front. The round end goes into the airbox.

No idea why the Gen2 has quick rivets in the air tubes but I would assume whoever last owned the ones you got put some sealant on that one to seal it from loosing pressure or just to make sure it stuck in. It sure looks like there are bunch more quick rivets in the tubes that aren't sealed so I don't know how much good that sealed one is doing.

Thanks rook.
I am sure most of the wholes were plugged by the guy I purchased them from, why? Ain’t got a clue.
Just like I don’t have a clue why the PO, of the bike thought it was best to remove the ram air.
But if I remember correctly, the wire bundles, cable, and green and blue tubing mounts to the ducts.
There is a sensor that mounts forward on the port duct, Again I ain’t got a clue what that sensor does. You can see it on this photo, just above the brake res.

I should of figured that out, duh, too much grey hair.

On this photo you can see how the wire harness mounts.
But I not sure about the tubing on the starboard side, or the drain holes. Hopefully my friend or someone else who has their fairings off can tell me.
This is a photo from a friends bike. He is having a custom paint job done. Not everything is attached.
Kawasaki wants $6.00 bucks a clamp. I found automotive wire loom clamps (actually better) for $15 for a box of 56 assorted sizes.
