WoHoo!!!!!!!
12/02/11 6:30 PM

Gonna make this short for just now.MY BABY IS HERE!!!!!!Gorgeous!Badazz. They're gonna get er all ready for me so tomorrow I can pick er up.I saw her tonight....WAY cool you guys.Only ONE prob.FU$%!!!!!BOTH lower belly fairings were damaged.BOTH!One side cracked and crunched like the forklift guy wherever backed into it.???And the other side...scraped nicely in the paint(the black paint area on the fairing).GEEZ...what the hell are these dock workers doin?Heavy drugs or what. The outside of the crate(cardboard)showed no damage...but there is a bend in the front right side of the metal pallet where it looks like something got pushed against it.Otherwise...I looked VERY CLOSELY to everything...there was zero damage(THank God).Bar ends were okay.Levers okay.Paint,okay...front fender...okay.I'm signing off now...gonna read the owner Manual some...see ya'll soon!

Just a side note here...THAT SEAT IS FRIGGIN AWESOME!!!!!!!!

And here's a 'surprise' if you will.....the manual gives like 6 types of oil that can be run in this engine...guess what?....full synthetic is ONE.I'd guess straight outta the crate IDK.I'm gonna do the Dino oil first.THEN...switch out.

No...I didn't ask for one.Wasn't their fault...or Kawasaki's.He ordered up a set...probably get em overnighted to the shop...course...that will mean...TUESDAY earliest.I'm just glad all this deal came together when it did....I'm off work tomorrow...a first. So I think I'm gonna have em reinstall em,then just do the replacement deal myself when they get here.I most likely can get the main part of the engine break-in done tomorrow...I mean....not the 1000 miles deal...but enough for the first oil change anyway...get that all cleaned up.Gonna be COLD tomorrow....hopefully...NO SNOW..but it's comin real soon.

I'll take some pics of the damage maybe....if they put em back on.Thank God it didn't hit the frame or anything else, whatever IT was.Looks like it got pushed in by something fairly heavy The outside of the box itself wasn't damaged?????? .

I don't know Snuff.I looked er over fairly close after that...I didn't see any other damage.Mind you,I wasn't there when it was initially delivered...so I really don't know WHERE the damage occurred.I wish I had been. But tomorrow you can bet I'm gonna be lookin REAL close at EVERYTHING.Geez man....amazing how the shippers just drop the ball on this stuff.I have to check er out close around the front end....the metal flooring of the pallet had a pushed in edge at the corner about a foot long or so going back.I hope to heck they didn't somehow drop the bike while moving it at wherever.I didn't see any other damage...but believe me...it was enough. The bar ends and stuff that 'could' have been sticking out and take a hit from a fall looked fine....I gotta make sure that right side front rotor's okay. That bend in the pallet is right in that area.Makes your damage look like small potatoes...no offense bro...I know ANY damage is serious shit with a brand new bike.I just don't see HOW they could have nailed BOTH sides.I can only assume here..they either dropped it off the lift,or the guy backed into the pallet and didn't realize he had smacked it.Looked like a 'crush' hit to me.Right on that bump that sticks out on the belly fairing.Big azz cracks radiating outward from the bump..and the plastic actually broken and pushed it looks like. The other side has a scratch about 4 inches long and 1/2 inch wide right about the same area. The ignition case looked okay,as well as the engine case.Pipes were okay.Hope the midfairing fastener spots are okay. They seemed to be,but I didn't get down there and actually check em out.You know...I would have never dreamed this would happen.I wonder how many other guys are finding freight damage. You and me...two out of how many?Doesn't sound too favorable. It better run right...or back she goes...for a new one.

My 07 had a similar deal...on the right side belly fairing..big azz scrape.They got a new part right away...but WTF?That's two for two.Battin a 1000 right now!

Ok, about time you got your 2012, Grn14. I thought you were going to piss yourself or something waiting for it.

Have fun riding! Its in the 20s here already, far too cold to ride without heated gear.

Whats with the picture of them op-testing a Connie?

Mine should be here in two weeks they say. I don't care, its going to have to sit at the dealership until Spring anyway. Heh. But I really look forward to that seating position.... there are going to be a couple long trips with COG and my mc this coming season. They will be a lot different on a C14.

Glad you'll be gettin yours Privateer. The pic is just showing that they test em before they actually ship...make sure everything's okay.My guess....they're seating the rings as well.IDK.Nobody really knows WHAT they run the motor like over there.I 'heard' somewhere...I think on one of the mags...they run em up through the gears and all, till just before redline...you know....staying in the torque and HP curve...then 'copy' the results onto their computers and database, and send the bar code with the bike. That's my understanding of it.IF they do that, then I'd imagine the rings and all are pretty well done from the get go.Meaning...I'm not so sure that going through a bunch of acrobatics while 'breaking her in' is really necessary.I'd be more inclined to think that the mileage and rpm chart for break-in is designed to get the customer used to the bike more than anything. You don't blast too fast at 4000 rpm, then up to 6000.

I'm gonna break mine in just as the manual says.As much as I'd like to just hit it,nah...I had real good engine performance from my other 14 doing it the book way.So I'm gonna follow their recommendations this time as well.

RE: WoHoo!!!!!!!

Me too. Just like I did with my ZX14.

It was painful keeping it under 4,000 rpm but the miles went by fast enough.

Eventually I'll get my Connie up to 170 horsepower, which is more than respectable for one. But that won't be the first year, for sure.

Dealer is giving me a sweet trade-in deal, so I get to keep my 2010 C14 Factory Gel seat and all those accessories.

So I will be selling these:

1) Barrier Bars (new, in box),
2) SpeedoHealer (needed due to 16T front sprocket - has wiring harness for ZX14, never opened),
3) Illumiglo gauge faces,
4) High Output Stator and Upgraded Regulator,
5) Front smoked LED Euro turn signal kit,
6) Rear smoked Euro turn signal lenses.

Somewhere I have SW-Motech mirror wideners and a toe guard, when I find them I'll sell them too.

This is where you get your tach light to hit 4,000 rpm for the first 500 miles.
Then, set the light to come on at 6,000 rpm for the other 1000.
Keep the same oil in for 500 or so miles.

I was like you, Grn; dumping the oil @ 250 miles/500 miles after that. This time, I kept the factory oil in it on the second bike. Needless to say, I'm going to run the bike the same way with the tach and oil break in. What you still get to do is hammer the rings like that article. But who wants to run a too tight an engine up like that? And if you hammered it from the get go, can feel it is not that spinable at the moment. You have to know and fell the difference is WOT I'm saying.

4K hits are plenty. You'll be on short runs in the cold anyway, right? That red line is tempting, but that book break in works. I did it with the ape and this thing has some nice compression. I squirted the thing up until I saw that light come on as per manual. That article has to explain to me about my 24K/220psi long in the tooth compression and now the ape's?

I don't think I hit redline with the ape because it doesn't have that 14 torque I'm chasing. I'd have to ring its neck out farther to get any haroomf out of it. So yeah, I'm calling that break in article out.

Ya Hub...I'm goin with what you say on this one.I'm no Kawasaki engineer...I trust what they're saying.Better safe than sorry. There'll be plenty of times to open er up.I'm going to do my very best with this baby to stay OUT of redline.Period.No bouncing off the limiter...non of that. The power curves start falling a few thousand(or whatever) rpms before redline anyway...so there's really no point in pushing er up to that.

BTW, my bike has ledd than 500 miles on it at this point (Due to the fact my wife was in the hospital for 3 days this week), and it has seen 150 already. Granted I changed the oil at 125 miles, but my friend Bill who is one of the owners of Long Island Kawasaki said "there is no need to break these bikes in anymore". Also one of the wrenches over there is a roadracer and has taken several bikes right out of the crate to the track with no issues. So do whatever makes you feel good as far as breaking it in goes.

51k trouble free miles on your '07... I'd treat the new ride the same way.
