Greatest Post In The History Of This Board
03/14/15 4:03 PM

By Mr. VicThing.......
Here's my deal. My days of old-wives-tales and backyard grease monkey shit are over. Can read anecdotal bullshit on anything. The whole break-it-in-like-a-racer bs is just that and the reasoning for doing it just as specious. "well the racers do it, they build performance engines, so I should do it because well I want a performance engine." Sounds pretty stupid when I put it like that, doesn't it? This doesn't even make sense, unless you are breaking in a racing bike and doing a rapid break-in for specific reasons.
Dimwits like that douche motoman are only looking for hits to their site. They provide what you really want to hear, that you should take your brand new motorcycle out and beat the piss out of it! Who doesn't want to do this? I mean right?
and people, mostly the dimwhitted types, just yum it up in droves. "Oh man, do the motoman break-in. Yeah man, he's broke in 300 motorcycles this way, and he says all this stuff about cross hatching and dynos...man he must really know what he's doing! Screw that factory recommendation, so what if they actually performed testing and analysis and based their recommendations on facts based on service histories, performance and longevity. motoman BROKE IN 300 ENGINES THIS WAY!!! motoman rules!!!" - idiot

Lol That was classic.

I posted a thread here and on other forums about high rpm breakins. Some do it and some don't. Nobody knows for sure but some claim their race breakin engines are a bit stronger. Some would rather keep their bike within warrenty guidelines. All I know is that the bike was already redlined before it left the factory. They dyno every one. I never heard of anyone having a bike self destruct from a race breakin. I don't think most of us could tell the difference anyway. Do what you feel feel best about and enjoy the bike.

Racers want an engine with max power from race 1. They don't want to be wasting' days and miles breaking in a motor and if it shortens the engine's life it's no big deal 'cos it's gonna be getting another rebuild soon anyway.
Breaking in by the book on a street bike won't affect max power, it may just take a while longer to get there and engine longevity will be assured which is more important on a street bike anyway right? JMO

Rook, curious how you know "All I know is that the bike was already redlined before it left the factory." and "They dyno every one."

Not saying you're wrong at all, just asking as I've never heard that. Heck just tonight I learned of the existence of the "Noel" and "Sadie Hawkins" dances in some high schools where girls ask guys to go to the dance. I could've really used that back in my shy teen days. Hell maybe it happened in my HS too! Damn. Thanks.

Its a pretty common practice to put a new motorcycle or car on a dyno, and putting it
through the paces, so to speak, I can't find the video, but I have seen them do this
to kawasakis and hondas (I think) and Lambo's in the car world, ad well as Corvettes etc ..
and many come stock with synthetic oil ... (cars)

Rook, curious how you know "All I know is that the bike was already redlined before it left the factory." and "They dyno every one."

Ask your dealer. They have the factory dyno result for every bike that comes in. They have to meet a certain factory spec for quality control. The dealer won't disclose the dyno #s but he should admit they have them. They're all within a couple hp anyway. Saw it in a vid documentary about Kawasaki motorcycle plant. It should be on Youtube.

I got asked to Sadie Hawkins one time and it was about the most awkward night of my life. Well, actually not even close but definitely up there. Mom caught me doing a 69 with my college college GF. That was without a doubt the most awkward moment of my life and I doubt I will ever top it.

the embarrassment was so intense, I felt as though I had left my body to float away somewhere and hide. Utter shock. just imagine how Mom felt! Oddly my rather quiet GF seemed to think it was quite funny. Wish I would have married that girl.

I'd like to hear all of you guys's most embarrassing moment in your personal history. Whisky dick on your wedding night? That happens about 70% of the time, I'm sure. Don't be bashful. Lets' hear your most epic social catas-trophy. Somebody start a thread! I'll paint a more vivid picture for you of my all time fail to beat all fails. You go first.

Scene. Girlfriends mom comes home early. Walks into bedroom. Girl on her knees slobbing the knob. Me leaning against the wall eyes fixed on girls eyes. Mom was there for a while before we hear a "AHEM!!!!". We froze. Mom stares into my eyes and says. Both of you get dressed and meet me in the living room. That was the longest 20 ft walk in my life. She reads us the riot act. She tells me how could I degrade her daughter like that. Then daughter starts yelling at mom stop being a prude. There is nothing wrong with sucking my boyfriend's dick. Now I am mortified and turned on at the same time. Mom is staring hate daggers at me as daughter is yelling she will suck my dick anytime she wants. Mom yells at me to get out. It was surreal. Her mom calls my mom. So when I get home I get the riot act read to me again. My pops is just sitting in the back ground quietly giving me the thumbs up. Lol. it was crazy day.

What's sad about the first post is that the hard break in absolutely does make more power. Every major builder on the planet breaks their engines in ON THE DYNO. Tin foil hat guys will say "dur bro dats because dey build injuns fur a livin". Are people really stupid enough to believe that the guys that depend on their product's reliability for their lively hood would set their own customers up for failure? Think about it.

Also... "Hurr you guys better not run nuttin but dat 93 octane or you'll blow yur injun up!" Cuz.... sticker says so!

2ND plus one hundred.

I too have Always Used the Hard break in method. Hard to make some believe. Makes no difference to each his own I guess.

Lol was just thinking, Someone should have told Richard at RCC that hard break in method does "Not" work. Over a thousand Busa guys would lose F..ken Minds Lol

Take a look at Richards Brand New HellCat. Brand Spankin New. Off the trailer on to the Dyno. Warm up, then Wide open under load. When snow is gone she hits the streets. Wicked Car

Popular spot where I grew up was a big empty lot at the end of the airport runway. Senior year of HS, my GF and I were bumpin' uglies in the back seat, windows all fogged up with her bare feet against the door window. Didn't notice the car pulling in next to us, was a little occupied at the time. When we got done we rolled down the back window for some fresh air, my mom and her dad were in the car next to us!!! Didn't know they were seeing each other, they looked at us and smiled, never said a thing. While my GF and I were quickly trying to get our clothes back on my mom and her dad just kept staring and smiling at us, I kept wondering what was going to happen next cause her dad was a BIG guy. After we were dressed our parents rolled down the window and calmly said we will talk to you both at my moms house, waiting for them to get home was AWFUL, kept thinking at the time I wonder how long the beating is going to last! When the parents got there it was a suprize, they both asked if we used protection and were careful, NOT a conversation you want to have with your GF's dad, but not what I expected to happen.

Couple of weeks later my GF and I went back to the airport, guess who was already parked there!!! Went and found a new place to park after that.

...and thank you all for sharing the moment of your most excruciating embarrassment.

It was surreal.

Nothing could describe it better. Total OOB experience for me. I'm looking down on the scene. "I'm over here, I'm not that guy."

ninja191 - I can't really say anything but thank you for this unexpected honor. Unfortunately the great motoman break-in debate will not die here. There are still those that believe the hype, because that's what racers do and they have performance engines.

It's funny for all the talk about these people and their rapid break-in to achieve max hp. Not one believes me that my bike will occasionally power wheelies while breaking the back tire loose simultaneously. That's because apparently their bikes don't do this. Just today the sumbitch was breaking the back tire loose in second gear. Guess what break-in method I used? Well apparently, if they're bikes won't do this, and mine will, then I must've used the better break-in method for developing horsepower.

..or maybe you have a freak 14r. Either way, congrats! That's awesome! I've never done that on either of my two bikes and one was broke in by the book, the other Motoman.

my mom and her dad were in the car next to us!!! Didn't know they were seeing each other, they looked at us and smiled, never said a thing.

GREAT memories! LOL Thanks for sharing the story.

I guess if you read the whole thread you have the gist of mine but a little more detail...so I'm doing a 69 with my college GF in my bedroom at my parents' home and we hear some ice crunching outside the window and my mother and fathers voice. Normal talking walking back from the neighbors' house. I guess we both froze, listening to hear the front door. This wasn't the first time my parents came home and we had to rush to get our cloths back on. We almost had a routine down for that. It was like 5 seconds. My mother must have run to my room. I never heard another sound until... the door opens, hall light on, I see the silhouette of Mom's head peeking in. The TV is on and there I am spread eagled on the bed with the GF sitting on my face! I'm peering around her butt cheek and just laying there frozen in terror. Horror, HORROR!!!! Light goes on. CLICK. Still frozen. Seconds of horror pass. Like I said, it was too much, I really felt like I left my body. It was all just too horrible to experience. My brain wouldn't take it. Mom says, "well, we're going to have to talk about this, aren't we." "yup." Door closes, clothes back on and all I can say is OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!...and not in a good way, mind you! Poor Jillzy could barely contain her laughter. I drove her home. Never did have that talk with MOm. I just asked her to keep it to herself when I got back home and that was the end of it...but I'm sure it is emblazoned on Mom's memory, too. I seriously can't recall if I had an instant bout of performance anxiety or not when I saw Mom peek in.
