Clutch and Brake Fluids
01/21/18 1:26 PM

Preventative Maintenance is always the Key to reliability.
Once a year i change / Refresh brake and clutch fluids using The Mighty Vac, which only take about 15 minute and is easy.
After a short season here. September ... I notice that the fluid in the clutch resorvior is sort of grayish as compared to the brake which is still golden / tannish.
Also the clutch performance starts to lack luster.
Is this normal or can i suspect clutch wearing ?
Clutch works fine after fluid change and bleeding.

I must have gotten a bad one. Mine's for shit. $80

My clutch fluid gets darker faster than my brake fluid and that seems to be the norm. The clutch fluid tuns reddish grey and the brake gets golden tan like fresh motor oil. Maybe yours is a step beyond less than fresh.

I have never noticed improved braking or clutch performance after replacing fluid but I don't use either hard enough to get the fluid really hot. It may be the bleeding that improves your clutch performance. If it works good after bleeding and new fluid, I doubt it is worn out. It sounds like air in the clutch more than worn out plates to me.
