CRANKCASE VENT PIPE REMOVAL
12/22/17 7:27 PM

Crankcase Vent Pipe Removal
The crankcase vent pipe will need to be removed to do the Positive Crankcase Ventilation mod. The upper or lower end may need to be removed so the pipe can be cleared to access parts in the execution of other procedures. It is not usually necessary to remove the crankcase vent pipe completely.

DO FIRST:
Remove ram air covers, foremans, lower and side fairings (FAIRING REMOVAL).

OPTIONAL: Remove the AIR CLEANER DRAIN HOSE.

Tools:
Pliers

Removal
1. The upper end of the crankcase vent pipe is located at the lower rear LH corner of the air box.

My LH side subframe rail is permanently removed. Side subframe removal is not necessary just to remove the crankcase vent pipe.

Squeeze the tabs on the upper hose clamp with pliers to expand the clamp. Slide the clamp down the outside of the pipe so it clears the fitting.

Pull the crankcase vent pipe off of the fitting.

2. The lower end of the crankcase vent pipe is located on top of the crankcase behind the throttle bodies holders.

Viewed from the RH side of the bike.

Squeeze the tabs of the lower hose clamp [A] with pliers and slide the clamp over the pipe so it clears the nipple on fitting [B].

Pull the crankcase vent pipe off of the fitting.

Installation
3. Installation is the reverse procedure.
