Well after the 900 was gone, I picked up a 2023 Ninja ZX400. Wanted to back off drag racing as the scene in my area has shifted and not as much fun as the past and fun is teh name of the game ..The 14 will become my sorta Concourse .

The lil 400 is indeed a lot of fun to ride and then a friend who utilizes TEKMOTO and races AFM, bought a ZX400RR. Well with a LOT of encouragement from everyone and the fact that my local dealer, who I have known for over 40 yrs, had just got one , I brought home another bike :)

]

Now we shall see if a track day happens :) The RR is truly a fun bike to ride and quite different than the 400 twin, as you can well imagine.. 170 miles yesterday and will pile on some more today so we can get the bike to TEKMOTO for some "stuff"..

Chrly, never grow out of riding. Trackday is a whole new animal. Find another set if rims so you can shoe on race compound tires. Front and read stands for the tire warmers. Makes a big difference.

Thanks Hub.. First thing I usually do is get a spare set of wheels to make swapping easier and no down time..I will check for warmers.. Put in 300 plus miles today and much fun, even while trying to maintain break-in mode . Gonna be new learning phase as last time on track was around ten years ago..

Well, it's been so long out there, they have late breaking back the thing in kind of racing. Thing is the race never can be taken out of me. So no matter the speed, I aim for smooth. People think I'm drunk because I'm on the raggedge of cutting the left lane line, or late lining and smooth to the right and almost hitting the right line.

Figure no law states I can't traverse from line to line as long as the cop does not see me cross it. I'll say I'm in 'pursuit of happiness' so don't lose your qualified immunity giving me a ticket for careless or reckless. Yeah, that'll work.

Read a Bob Bondurant book explaining to look out far ahead to be smooth, and turn your head not around the A-pillar but thru it. It works.

If you have a camera photograph yourself and speed up the video. Shows if your smooth, throttle is not off and on, shows Joe Squid driving as your line is already setup for the next turn ahead.

Smooth first speed second.

Great bike Chrly, I'm back doing track days at Thunderhill. I'm signed up for May 13..If you're there, look for the blue SV650 with a copper front fairing.

Hub....Looking thru the corner.. I tried looking waay ahead yesterday instead of JUST thru the corner.. felt much better ..I am no racer by any means but it sure makes a difference . I was on a pretty rough road and found myself constantly dropping vision to the potholes and debrie directly in front of me and every time I did it was obvious how badly it affected my "smoothness".

Boy, when I'm riding on unknown or crappy roads, or even just decent public roads but where I suspect sand in a corner, I just can't NOT look down in front of me. I'd have to save the looking far ahead for a track.

Oh no Some, this is for life. See if you can tell how I'm remaining smooth and speed is more ignored. A trick I find is like brushing out a paintbrush in the long. Not upright swipes, but more the smoothing out of the turn using the whole lane.

I've never been on this road before. So I sped up the vid to watch my lines to see if there is smoothing going on.

Chrly, does not matter if on the bike or in the car, it's all about putting in the hours for smoothing no matter the transportation. Going fast takes concentration setting up and exiting lines. Different kind of mindset at the tree as opposed to a constant changing speed.

The big trick is to listen to your throttle hand. Part of smoothing is to have the way out look controlling the on and off. The less there is, the more depth you can do without rolling off, if that makes sense.
