It's all right Hub. At least here in Cali our math skills are second to none, hence Mobil does not dare to shortchange us by a quart.

Now, let me see, 5 Qt. of Mobil 1 for $ 22.00...........vs...........4 Qt. of Rotella Sync. for $ 19.00, hmmmmm.......

I use whats known to be good and readily available.....Mobil 1 4t Racing syn for the busa and 1100, and Castrol motorcycle specific dino for the boosted 14. The Mobil's under 9 bucks a quart at Wally-world, and the Castrol is under 3

I put castrol as a second oil change at 3k miles and didn't like the way the bike shifted at all. I switched to Mobil1 4t Racing at 6k and it is as good as I remembered it in all my other bikes. I have been a fan of motorcycle specific Mobil1 for the last 8 years and like wasting my money on it. :)

I really didn't notice much diff going from castrol gtx car oil for the break in, to the mobil 4t in my busa. The 14 seemed to like the castrol as well. I'm prolly just not paying as much attention as I should be tho I do stretch the oil changes out with the syn...thats one of the reasons I use it

OK, I went to Walmart last night to settle this debate for myself. Mobil 1 0W30, 5W30 and 10W40 High Mileage were $22.00 for 5 quarts. All of those except the 10W40 High MIleage would be unuseable in our 14s. The only one I would personally use, the Mobil 1 5W40 Heavy Duty turbodiesel oil comparable to Rotella 5W40 synthetic is still $22 for 4 quarts. Go check it out for yourself.

What the heck are you running a 15W50 weight oil in Steven, surely not in the 14? They don't sell that one in our WalMart here, ask for the 5W40 Turbodiesel oil, comes only in a 4 quart jug for $22.
Comparable to the Rotella but still too thin to use in your old Merc.

I use Mobil1 4T 10W40 in the ZX-14. My old ZX-11 however uses 2.5 Qt of Mobil1 15W50 with 1 Qt. Mobil1 0W40.
The old Merc. and Land Rover uses Mobil1 10W40 High Mileage. My other cars use Mobil1 0W40 European Formula.
For the last 5 years all I use exclusively is Mobil 1. Never had any oil related issues, until I tried Rotella. But we have already talked plenty about that one.

Yea, your right that Rotella is crap, that's why if you go to the Bob is the Oil Guy website for motorcycles it's the most popular oil over there. You're right and everyone one else is an idiot. I'm gonna call BS here, the bottom line is you ran Rotella 5W40 in a 175,000 mile car and had lifter bleed down. You need a thicker high mileage oil for the old car so you don't get lifter bleed down...it's that simple. Any of the newer low viscosity fuel efficient oils would have the same problem in the old Merc.

Anybody that plugs his radiator core with JB weld doesn't deserve to run Rotella.

In fact, I might even call WalMart and have you banned from the Rotella aisle!
