My ignition switch will not turn. Key works fine on the helmet lock and on the seat lock. When I put it in the ignition it goes in normally, but it will not turn in either direction. Anyone seen this? I can't find anything in the service manual, except for the immobilizer bikes. My is a US spec.

Are your bars locked?If so,pull the left bar toward you while turning key!

Seems to me like the first day I had my 08 baby home in the garage, and wanted to roll it out Saturday morning to wash and wax it, I couldn't turn the key either. Stood there and scratched my head, then for some reason pulled on the left handgrip (towards the tank) and the key turned.

This has never happened again, but reading this I think I'll go mess with it again and see if I can recreate the problem.

By the way, blue, there is no way he could have the key out of the ignition on a ZX-14 (unless mine is an anomaly - grin) unless the triple tree is locked. I remember wondering about why I couldn't get the key out the first time, too.

Bar were not locked. Wheel straight ahead. Tried it in all positions of the steering, lock to lock. Whatever I do the key will not turn from OFF to eith LOCK or to ON. I'm stumped.

sounds like yer key is MAYBE bent or not quite in all the way?(does it work on the fuel door?)

It was the key. It also did work ok with the fuel cap, just wouldn't work the ignition switch. Glad I did'nt have to pull the top triple tree clamp after all.
