I stripped a bolt hole that holds the foreman grill on. Should I try and tap some new threads? This is what I get for messing with my bike late at night.

Yeah you can probably strip those a few times and re tap them a few times safetly. These bolts are not under a lot of tension/stress/ On my first bike I probably had to re-tap holes like 30 times in a year because all the bolts were under tension when installed so bolts often went in at angles.

I agree with Phil, normally if you run a tap through there you'll be able to thread it again ok. Make sure your bolt threads are cleaned off too.
Yep be careful with your bike, it's not like a (steel) car. Handle it with kid gloves or you're going to spend a lot of time retapping bolt holes or worse. Fortunately I learned my lesson with my first bike. There's nothing quite like the experience of tightening a small bolt, and wondering if it's ever going to actually torque, hearing a distinct metallic ping, and like pushing up a daisy the head popped off!

I'm assuming it's the bolts on the frame side. The smaller one to the front or middle is a rubber grommet with a brass thread insert. Almost the same type that your screen bolts go into into. This one can just be replaced.

I about wrote this exact thing. Then I thought it's most likely the frame side anyway...

If I'm not mistaken...mixing up those bolts can create problems...the tips are conical...if you put one in there that has a plain flat thread start...those can easy strip out the first several threads in the hole....if the insertion angle is off by just a little bit. They mostly all look the same...but the tips are different on some of em.

glad you fixed it. I have to get a set of those dies some day for making my own brackets and stuff.
I can't say for sure but I would think any M5 bolt will thread in just fine to M5 threads as long as the there are the same # of threads/cm. There are different pitches but if the bolt and the hole threads are the same, they should all go together just fine. Any screw has a slight taper on the first thread so it goes in smoothly...unless you cut it off with a hacksaw. Then you have to bevel it down a bit with a grinder and sandpaper it so it's very smooth.
right?
