Rofl! I think you meant to type: "ascended"; not "ass-ended!" Although if you are going to heaven, reckon ass ended will work as well as any. Lots of forgiveness there, they say.

Not to question the Docs in the PACNOR but is that as good a fit as they could get? When that leg heals up over that fracture spacing, I predict it will be super dense and strong. Hope Mrs. Blast takes it real easy till they give her the go ahead on therapy; lot of mending to do there before weight can be applied.

Wonder how she snapped/twisted that puppy, any how??

I think I'll show that picture to a ATC friend of mine for his opinion; I may be overly concerned.

May winter expire before the Mrs. is off the crutches; I am sure we all "feel the need" about now.......
hell, I was getting fitted for a C-7 a few days ago; that's how bad I need it!

Best wishes.

Sheesh

That looks painful.

Will the screws stay in after it's healed ?

Hope she returns to normal quickly.

missed that one!

I know a guy who was attending seminary to become a priest and he told me there was a fellow student to pronounced it like that when he read aloud from the Bible!! no one dared to snicker.

Got yer message again Wolfie. Sorry we were out again. Busy weekend with the kids. Keep trying or I'll get ahold of you.

Hey Paul! Thank you! I am interested in that opinion. I thought that gap was too big as well. Like 2mm. Not kosher. But seems healing well. No complications but zero weight bearing!

Don't worry C, the bone will heal back together, my friends husband is a highly rated orthopedic surgeon, I could have him look at the photo of the X-ray if you want ....

Good evening Cblast;

I ran the x-ray by my ATC and Sports Medicine friend for his opinion.

He says; "not to worry". Looks good to him and he has seen many fractures. Like me, he was curious to the method of procuring such a delightfully complete spiral fracture. Lots of applied torque there.

That spacing will fill in as it heals and the healed leg bone will be twice as strong as the old fibula. There appears to be a "loose" chip in there as well and he says it will fuse back also. So my concerns were mistaken.

It will be 6-8 weeks with no load bearing and then she will need to rehab to build back size and strength. When I asked him about lasting indicators, he allowed as how she would most likely have some physical disparities (trophies to brag about) when the healing is done; shouldn't be anything serious.

Did the doctor tell you those set screws were bio-degradable? Can't tell from pics for sure.

Best Wishes.

Hey Paul! Thank you sir! Really appreciate that. Great to hear your guy give it the ok! I was a little worried about that gap myself. She did it during what she calls a transition. She was skating fast and spun around to skate backwards, as she spun, her outside front wheel caught and her leg made this snap sound as she folded on top of it. Definitely a good one! :)) I can smile about it now that she is healing! That's what I get for bein married to a roller derby gal!

You are most welcome! You know what they say about free advise, heh, heh.

I was thinking that she caught her skate foot on something! Maybe stepped off the track into a depression of some sort was my guess; not just an impact. But I didn't want to suggest such an incident "of regrettable unskillfulness".

The scenario you describe makes perfect sense and speaks to her ability to skate very fast and trust her own athleticism. But, s___ happens; as we all can attest.

Good luck with the Mr. Mom duty; been there myself. Hope the Mrs. is back on the wheels in good time.

Thank you Paul! She was touched by you reachin out man. And YES, she is determined to work back to where she was on her team position wise. I'm very proud of her handling this set-back. She never says 'quit', never gives up, never backs down. She is my freakin hero.

And she is a helluva poker player!
