Kawasaki's new ZX-14R is a generational shift in the mega-motorcycle category. It's brutally fast, but it's also kindly natured and beautifully refined as well.

I'd say...ANYONE thinking about adding more 'mods' to their present zx14...2011's and lower....REALLY need to get a ride on his new bird.Save yer cash for a down payment or something. This bike is far superior in every way to the other zx's...and I LOVED my 07.But this baby is just...well...incredible.And I've ONLY ridden her 10 miles so far.Hopefully, that's gonna change here on Thursday...weather allowing .

Hopefully when you have a few thousand miles on it, and have it broken in, you will give us a more objective, and fact/experience-based, evaluation.

+1 blurting out with new bike elation there Greeny lol...I'll venture to say you've never even ridden an '11 like mine to truly know and appreciate how much more refined AND powerful it is over your old '07. Think about it n get some more miles under your belt on the new one before claiming you've got 'The Holy Grail'.

If I say she's 'better' and more "refined"....she's BETTER and MORE REFINED.My 07 was as smooth as they come.THIS bike..... ....'holy grail'(I don't remember saying that, but okay...if you say I did)....nah...just a friggin killer, badazz, king of the road, tire burnin, wheelie poppin,0 to 60 in 1.5 seconds kind of bike. You know...the kind that scares the shit outta ya!The kind that will do low 8's,with 7's coming up.

No offense...but nobody's gonna ruin this deal for me.I'll be sayin 'sayanara'(Japanese for 'so-long')while yer still playin catch-up on yer mighty 2011 And mine won't even be breathin hard...STOCK .Don't get me wrong...I said before..I LOVED my 07...yep...best bike I ever owned and rode for 51,000 miles.THIS BIKE....is NOTHING like you think it is.They're in TWO different time warps my friend.

The BIG difference here is...to you and Privateer...neither of you have anything to compare your babies with. You both have owned and ridden the best supersport bike on the planet. But HAVEN'T ridden THIS one.Go ride one,and come back and tell me...."New Bike Elation"...ya....I do have NEW BIKE elation....just like I had when I bought my 07,and turned in my 2004 zx12R.Yep...same thing...only....BETTER feeling!WAY better.

Just for the heck of it....
I rode my 14 for 4 years...I think I just MAY be able to discern between...'elation' and fact .

Today,if all goes well..I'm gonna get out and put some more miles on er.I can't sleep....that's the kind of bike THIS one is .

Maybe THIS will help explain what I'm talking about....look on the 'zx14r videos' that Cooter posted up.Okay...that first video...the 'track' one....look at the ktrc level bars as that guy goes through the gears and such.Watch as he shifts gears and gets on it.See that bar graph going all the way to the right there?Ya...that's wheel spin being controlled. That's how much the ktrc is working to stop rear wheel spin.Think about it.Without ktrc.

When you have 4,000 miles on it, and its broken in and running as good as it can, give us an objective review, please.

Cycle World just published another review, including some excerpts of an interview with Ricky Gadsen. Ricky told them he and Kawasaki dyno-ed a box stock 2012 ZX14 and it made 191 rwhp. That is a smoking increase of about 28 rwhp over the pre-2012 bikes.

Its that state I am interested in, broken in, when she is ridden like a finely honed instrument of speed.

This little girl gushing doesn't do her justice.

Those were kind of my thoughts Privateer, I've had a lttle bit of buying experience having purchased six new bikes since 2005. As I recall, everyone of them was the greatest thing since sliced bread the day I brought it home, put everything else on the trailer..yady yady yada blah....blah blah blah. I think it's natural when you drop a lot of coin on something that you justify it in your own mind and convince yourself that it is the greatest thing ever made. After a few weeks or months, you start to realize it's just another motorcycle. I'm not going to fault Grn14 here as I've been guilty of the same euphoria many a time.

"When you have 4,000 miles on it, and its broken in and running as good as it can, give us an objective review, please".

Now WHY would I want to go and do that?Nope....not me...I've already shared my thoughts.

"I think it's natural when you drop a lot of coin on something that you justify it in your own mind and convince yourself that it is the greatest thing ever made. After a few weeks or months, you start to realize it's just another motorcycle. I'm not going to fault Grn14 here as I've been guilty of the same euphoria many a time".

Looks to me like your 'euphoria' went a tad koo koo...that's a lot of money there you spent for disappointment Kruz!

I'd say MY 'euphoria' is justified and normal....One Bike....and happy.Besides...you've heard this I'm sure..."the blessings of the Lord maketh rich, and He addeth NO sorrow to it"....Why shouldn't I be happy? He made it possible!

Money's got nothing to do with it.I didn't need convincing.Or justifying to myself.I didn't buy her to ride her like a 600.I already KNEW she was gonna be a BAAAAAD BIRD ..read my posts...nothing's changed about what I 'predicted'...it's only gotten BETTER!!!

"This little girl gushing doesn't do her justice".."oh teach me thou wise one"

Tell that to MR Gadsen and the rest o'the boys that had a serious smile on their faces when they dyno'd her.
Hmmm...well...it's like I said....too bad you guys are so quick to ..but it doesn't mean a thing to me.I'm old enough to know what's a good thing and what isn't.I don' know what you think the zx14 is SUPPOSED to be...apparently,she's not ever gonna be up to snuf for your likes. As for me...I'm perfectly fine thanking the Lord and enjoying a superb work of art from Japan!Happy ridin boys!Mebbe see ya in my rear view sometime...wave an say "howdy Pard!"You'll know it's me...it'll be that 'green flash' of light they showed in the first few vids of the King of the Road!

OK, that's it then, all of you guys with pre-2012 ZX-14s, your bike is junk and is slow. In fact, I don't know why you don't just have that miserable heap towed to the nearest salvage yard...right now!! And I'll tell you something else, you clowns that have 2012 ZX-14s that aren't green...you're bikes are junk too, only the green ones are fast!!! BTW, if any of you jokers do have a green 2012 and you ain't running Motul 10W40, you're an idiot and your bike is junk!!!

Now see...there ya go.Tellin everyone here just how ya feel!Sometimes,it's better to be still, than open yer mouth and prove how ignorant you are!

Let's not get this out of perspective now.....these are YOUR thoughts, not mine. This is YOUR interpretation of it,not mine.It doesn't matter one hoot if ANYONE gets another bike to me.Some guys on here LOVE the zx14.Like me.That's why I didn't get a Suzuki,or whatever. My words about this NEW bike are MY feelings....not a putdown to anyone. If I say..."this bike's better"..that's MY opinion of MY ownership...it doesn't mean YOUR bike is less..Somebody's (again) having a really bad day!Sorry.

BTW...the green ones ARE the fastest!

This place is too funny. Kruz, you are way too funny! Crack me up why don't you guys! Grn? Don't change! Keep it coming!

Kruz, that fleet must be a, 'lets see who is coming with me today' and that is my little fleet that is going to grow too. I'm digging the rotation rides. I still get a smile on either won, they [14/ape] are winners in my book. The 3 and above owner's club threadstart one. I have 5 and would not trade or sell any one of them at this time. The 6th one is sitting in a box on the floor waiting its turn.

I'm truly happy for ya Grn...I'd be happy too, but I'd certainly not tell everyone not to add mods to their bikes, basically saying they're not worth it! We love ours too and your 'gushing' lol, makes us want to get the '13 so we can say we're the new 'QUEEN OF THE NINJA WORLD' lolol

I don't think anyone on this forum isn't tickled to death when a member gets a new bike, everyone's happy for ya, just give it a rest... if the new bike is that great then gradually a consensus will form.

I don't care if nobody here is 'happy for me'.I'm happy. What's wrong with YOU guys takin pride in YOUR bikes?Somethin wrong with that?I'll say it one more time...just so's ya know...I loved my 07.51,000 miles in 4 seasons of riding..that's approximately two to maybe three months a year of riding. And that doesn't mean EVERY day either. That means....MAYBE two days a week.Figure it out.Anyone around here log that many hours in the saddle? In that amount of time?NEVER once did you hear me complain about the zx14 being anything that it wasn't supposed to be.If I listened to some of the real bikers here,I would've started dislikin my bike."she can't do this"..."she weighs too much"..."she can't handle".Yada yada yada.Sayin 'save yer money for a down payment" is not saying...your wasting you cash. It's saying...before you spend boo koo bucks 'improving' an already sweet ride....think about a test ride on the new one.I aint dissin ANYONE for pumpin their bike up.Great...go for it.Ya'll cryin about "I wantta do this and that..so I'm gonna put this and that into her"...fine... do it.Build her till she rips yer arms out.S'all good IMO.I don't care.I bought what I wanted. And I've talked about the good points of MY bike.I've never said....'why,she's better than yours"...not the way you guys are twistin it.

You don't have to worry about me 'givin it a rest'....I'm done with this.Guess the next scapegoat'll be Snuffy,or Seno.Too bad really that the 14 owners here still think like kids in the sandbox."My toys' better than yours"...If you MUST know..."This bike is far superior in every way to the other zx's".the new 14 IS better than the other years...MY 07 included.I didn't say...I'm superior for having one. That's what YOU got out of it.And why is that?Perhaps THAT's what's going on in YOUR world. But not mine.

Come on Grn14 , we know you will be able to pull away from everything with a "Grn flash". The GenI & GenII are great bikes (as you know) however IMO they might be just a lil more fun because it takes rider skilz to handle the bike. The 2012 will be easier to ride hard and fast with electronics but only a crazy few will be able to master the power transfer to ground without the electonics on...Opinions are just opinions, enjoy what you got or step it up.....

It was a joke...not to be taken seriously. You hit it on the head...I need something that will make it easier to ride...you know...less skills and all that.

What I find interesting,is the statements that were made and argued that ABS was a 'really great thing'...Ya...I disagreed with that...and got trounced nicely by several guys here.Okay...it's cool.I changed my mind and was able to 'see' that indeed, abs could be a very good thing.I even 'argued' that it took away from learning the 'skills' of finesse in rear braking.Nope...I was full if it.NOBODY agreed that developing your rear brake skills was a valid reason to not want abs..NOW...everyone seems to have this idea that the Ktrc and slipper and all that is somehow...'different'?That it's taking away needed skills in riding the bike to it's envelope?I'd like to know just how "abs is great' is any different than..."Ktrc or a slipper" will help a rider better his riding abilities?Somehow it's 'okay' to rely on abs...but if you use the Ktrc and slipper...you're somehow 'less skilled'?Can anyone explain this?BTW...abs is in my opinion a very good component.

And please maybe explain...is it taking less skill to go 70 around a track,or whatever, than it does going 165,170?Anyone here think it takes no more skill to negotiate a track or street going triple digits?as opposed to 70,or 60?So what exactly does the Ktrc and slipper allow you to do?Increase your skill level,or lower it?Will you not be more aggressive using the systems,or less? Will you not brake differently if you have abs,or the same as if you didn't?If you KNOW you won't skid with abs....won't you brake later, and harder,meaning....entering a turn faster and deeper?Think THAT takes more skill?Or less.Instead of 70,now you're turning at 120.Need more or less skill?Honestly...I think there are lots of guys out there racing right now....using their abs and traction control and slipper and such that would be highly offended if someone told em..."ya....you ONLY ride the way you do cause such and such is doing the hard work for ya'.Probably laugh in your face, hand the bike over to ya,and say...here ya go...now ride like I just did.Come back and tell me IF you needed ALL the skill you could find,or not.

ABS, traction control and slipper clutches are not going to save you if you do something truly stupid. They make the machine more controllable when ridden right at the edge of it's performance envelope, screw up big time and you still crash....that simple.

"when ridden right at the edge of it's performance envelope"....you don't get there by using less skill...you get there by learning MORE skills.More tools....the more your skills go up using those tools.EXACTLY my point.Somebody saying...."you now have these deals doing it for you" is IMO....well...not important what my opinion is.

"screw up big time and you still crash....that simple".Precisely.And how do you keep from screwing up big time?By getting more skills.Or dumb luck...as in my case.

So now we've established that ABS is the cat's meow...and is a great add on to any motorcycle, and helps a rider learn proper braking. And we've also established that utilizing TC and Slippers are actually a cop out for the less skillful...me again.Okay...so it's cool.Just needed to clarify where I'm at on this forum.Thanks.

Hold on...I almost forgot...we can't leave THIS out....I think all the owners of the earlier model zx14's are riding inferior bikes, and I'm top dog here and everywhere because I said I love my bike and glad I traded my 07 for it.There...that should almost cover it...except I left out the part where I think you all ride lousy and your zx's can't hang with the master pro here...that'd be me...again.There...that should about sum up who I am and how I view everyone else.Sound about right there you guys?
