so what differences have you noticed from riding the 09 vs. the 07 ? let me know im very interested

will tell what I know but its only at a 100 miles on the 09.
I think the 07 had the flys out as I bought it from a user with 500 miles on it .
I rode it the last 5 months.
The 07 had a little better take off and sounded louder (fly out maybe )
The stock 09 springs are set way better for normal driving as the 07 (1st owner) had suspenision set pretty hard . which works for me as I am one of the older big guys who cant tuck behind the shield like a 12 year old girl anyway LOL
The new 09 is way smoother on take off and as I am still doing break in I havnt really opened it up yet so cannot compare higher speeds .
new soft notes and less noise in genral.
07 had a little more low end or sounded like it did.
the 09 is no slouch any way you look at it .
I miss my grip puppies badly as I have big hands and both the 07 and the 09 have just a slight tingle at highway speeds to my right hand and the grip puppies took care of that .
Thats about it for now but since I rode the 07 in the morning and the 09 in the afternoon those are the biggest differences I could talk about so far .

Did you have any thing you wanted to know for certain as they really havnt changed that much .
As far as I know maybe the flys open a little sooner and they(kaw) changed the mapping a little but its the warrenty and color I was going for with a 09 I am glad I can and did swap. nothing wrong with the 07 but the 09 now has a four year warrenty and new tires with a color I like better . I didnt loose to much on my trade in as they are hurting for new bike sales right now so they did a bit under retail and discounted the four year warrenty pretty good also .
I would say do it if you are likeing the newer colors and out of warrenty as its a piece of mind thing also as I dont want to be paying for any repairs in the next year or three as its uncertain times for us all .
I cant say theres a huge difference in performance between the years.
The numbers I read are only a few more HP and flys open a little sooner if this is your main goal I would stay with what you have and mod it .

I got into a bit of stupid with a mustang and this one with stock settings and OEM tires handeled a bit smoother at 130+
could just be me or it does seem smoother . The 07 wasnt roungh but this new one was riding smoother . I think the 07 was set to ride harder but turned quicker

Congrats on the new purchase, the exhaust outlet/timing on the 09 is a ltttle different I think
However, don't by shy while breaking in your beast. My mechanic breaks his new bikes in on a Dyno, basically ride it like you would every other day. Just make sure you change the oil at 1000k (what ever that is in miles) If you baby your bike especially with these new engines you won't get the top end out of them later. Mine is dong 191.5HP at the rear wheel and I took it all the way up to red line a few times during the break in period and its beuatiful

PS I've ridden bikes for over 30 years and really look after them I know it won't hurt your engine but it will make it better, just get that factory oil out after that first service.
