Idle speed , Is it supposed to be 1200
03/17/09 7:52 PM

I traded in my 07 Black Zx14 for a branch new ZX14 Green . I love it but it seems that the idle is a tad high . Is that a normal speed as the 07 was set there also ?

Mike

Adjust it yourself to the recommended 1,050 RPM. You shouldn't have a problem.

When I picked up my new bike it was idling at 1500rpm. Adjusted to 1000rpm and took up slack on throttle as well so's I don't have to break my wrist when opening it up.

Thanks I will put about 1000 on her to wear every thing in then adjust . I will take it to a honda dealer as I am not surew of the Kaw dealer around here in Austin. I have a georgetwon tx honda dealer that has been more than fair and squeezed me in a couple of times in a pinch. They take care of my ST1300 and give me that family warm feeling and I trust their tech whole heatedly

Try to keep the idle at 1000 rpm. When the temp. outside gets high, she'll start to idle higher. That's normal. Don't be afraid to use the idle adjuster, that's why it is so easily accesible.

The idle adjust was childs play but mine didnt have any golf tees . which could be a life saver as I do hit the driving range now and then ,
I did notice that the voltage was down a bit when I was sitting at a light with signal and highbeams on (Need to ,stupid cages)I am okk with lower voltage as long as I know I need RPM to charge and sitting too long at low RPM will be bad thingys to battery
