Stock tyre question/observation
05/20/14 5:25 PM

Loads of people post about tyres when they get a nice new confidence inspiring set of tyres. What I'd like to know here is people's experience of the stock (or otherwise) tyres once they started getting a little worn.
Both my 14 and 14R had the stock Bridgestones, BT016 and S20R respectively. The BT016's at around 4000 kms gave me a few heart stopping moments, both with the front stepping out on me on the turn in to a slow corner, and the rear "skipping" a few times when it got pushed on a tight corner. The S20Rs on the 14R have only done 3500 easy kms and have skipped the rear a few times already on slow corners. Longer corners were better, but neither tyre felt planted. Both sets of tyres were ok(ish) at first, then showed this behavior after they got a LITTLE worn, although they had heaps of wear (up to 50%) left on them. Is everyone seeing the same thing, or am I doing something to force this behavior? Either way, both bikes made me feel that I need softer/stickier tyres that will tolerate being pushed a little harder. Is there a point where you can say for certain, it's the tyres, it's the bike set-up, or my riding is causing it?

Stock tires are just ok, they are most likely not even the same compounds you would get if you
Bought the aftermarket ones, (M5 metzler) that being said, the front started cupping with a lot
Of tread still left, the rear is getting a little squirmy in the turns, or even if there is just a light
Covering of dirt on pavement .....

Trying right this minute to get someone to install Pilot Road 4's everyone I have talked to says that
For a sport/touring tire, they are surprisingly sticky, and last a LONG time .....

It's been like pulling teeth to get them installed in this hell-hole for some unknown reason ....

Dang Cara, too bad about that. And sweet, them stockers blow. Get rid of em. In the bin foreskin. Lol. I love the road 4's, fantastic tire, and the 190/55 profile corners sweeter than the stock 190/50 profile by a good bit.

Cblast is right !

Just got my Pilot 4's mounted, and just on the short ride home, they are MUCH better than the
shitzlers ! 55 rear turns in much quicker, and even with the slippery stuff from the mold on new
Tires, they stick better than the shitzlers !
