Timing
09/16/10 1:47 AM

Hey all...hope yer all having safe and fun rides out there.I am!Anyway....glad everyone is still here and okay.I went back tonight and reinstalled my stock timing wheel.Just to see how it will affect my engine, fuel mileage and performance.I'll post up the results if anyone's interested in a comparo.Also...I removed that tight master link....reinstalled a new one and made sure it was as moveable as the other links.Rode er.Really surprised and happy that the vibrations are gone. And the bike is running smooth like new again. At 80,90,70, it feels almost as if the engine isn't even running!.SHWEET!Keep them chains lubed guys!Have fun tomorrow!

Nup, sorry. still confused. timing wheels can be used in cam timing and igntion timing. 4deg advanced, I assume you are altering ignition timing?

Blue did you notice that your bike runs hotter with it removed ? I run the Dyno-Jets ignition module and when I turn back my timing to stock #'s my bike heats up much faster. Just curious if you noticed that the bike does run cooler with it in. For me, I know there is a big diff in running temp in heavy traffic. It's never coming out.

Ya...I may have noticed something.Probably.I do know that at Idle, she is steady as a rock rpm wise with the Muzzy advancer in there. The stock timer, she didn't want to stay put.Had to readjust the idle several times to get er to stabilize(somewhat).Throttle response was, well, less than I wanted with the stock timer. She's happy again!

I would love to see your maps bottom end #'s. Is Dyno jets or custom.

It's an FAICS map.Dynojets and Muzzys just didn't get it for me.50 bucks to Jeffo and my power/response issue ceased to exist! Not to mention overall riding quality and response.

50 bucks to Jeffo

Ok, big subject. Blue I would ask someone else who has bought Jeffo Map to show you a copy of their bottom end say 5000 down and compare it with yours. You have your timing advanced and most do not. Are your maps the same ?
