Seat?
03/18/09 6:29 PM

Is anybody else having trouble with their seat? Everytime that I open it up I slide backwards off of the seat.

My wife is very unhappy with the stock seat too! Does everyone else ride with their nuts up against the tank? If I slide back I can barely reach everything and I am 6'1".My wife then slides down into the huge front section and it kills her tailbone.

I saw someone posted about a Spencer Mod? What is that? C14 seat too.

It seems like this seat was designed for 2 400 pound riders not an average sized couple.

There has to be something? The Seargent and Corbin do not look to me like they solve any of these problems.

While I am way up front leaning to the bars there is almost a foot in between us. Thanks, Shawn

No problems here. Are you using a product like Armor All on the seat? Are your legs squeezed into the tank? If so have you considered stomp grip for the sides of the tank to help you maintain seat position? Ebay sells a passenger non-slip cover but I have never encountered anyone who has used one.

My Spencer modified seat will be here early next week. I'll give a firsthand review then. He did the work in 2 days (from day he got it) and the full treatment including a slight rear bias in the rider section cost US$90.

Based on what others have said about Spencer's work (all good) I think it will turn out to be not much money, very well spent.

On the whole the stock saddle has been pretty good to my arse, but I hear you on the nuts against tank issue. In the twisties I find myself a little forward for weight bias, but there are times when I wish there was a bit more rise towards the front to keep me planted a little farther back and I'm fairly tall at 6'3". But slipping around has not been a problem. As for my wife, well, she's got really long legs and is very tall....not a bad thing I must say, but is not very happy on the back of the zx all folded up like a safety pin.

I don't want to light off the fireworks by mentioning Corbin, especially as this thread is maybe a little misplaced, but their saddle looks like it's got some rise up front. Personally, Corbin has really pissed me off, but I do like the looks of that geometry. I dunno. The new Sargent is a little over the top for me visually, but their seat was one of the best mods of my heavily modded ZRX. Also, the pans for the Corbin weighed a ton, but I would love to hear what people here think of it, if anybody has braved their customer service.

Well, Spencer is putting a slight rear bias in my seat so it will have a bit more rise in front.

I will be interested in the spencer mod as he did my seat for my ST1300 and that added 50% to the number of miles in comfort. He's a good guy and fast work also . He tries to do one day turnaround but it is the busy season starting

Lost in TX and I dont want to be found ,
2012Yamaha Tenere 1200 for really wandering off the beaten path
2005 GL1800 Sold to another to enjoy
2006 ST1300 Gone but not forgotten
2009 ZX14 Also gone and will be replaced someday
some of the best of both worlds

OK, Just won the C14 seat on ebay. That was easy. $175 delivered. I'll put it on and try it to decide which seat that I want to keep and which to modify.

Hey, notfirst....

http://greatdaytoride.com/Home_Page.php

Just got mine back today. So no chance to test it with my butt yet, air temp outside is sub-40. Soon. But I can say, they double stapled the cover back on, neatly, no wrinkles, stretched just right. And I can see the rear bias in it, which will help keep me off the tank and also make my ride time more comfortable.

Will post when I have time in the seat... they told me it would take 3 or 4 tanks of gas to break it in completely.

I have rode about 100 miles now with the C14 seat. I recommend this! Nice and soft and I do not slip one bit now when I open it up.

Glad somebody else likes the connie seat-BEST comfort mod I've done!Shaved off the rear some and fit my seat cowl on there(I never ride two-up).All day comfort-for a fraction of a "custom" seat.
