Not sure if this is the right place to post this. I was out playing around just a bit ago and an 08 gixxer 1k came up to a light with me with about a mile of open road in front of us with NO entrances(spell). He was about my size (215lbs). So the light turns green and we both nail it and I had about 1-1.5 bikes on him and pulling away until 110pmh when I let out. With the look on his face I don't think he was expecting the results he got. Sure was a pretty bike though, and looked to be all stock.

Nothing like streching the legs on this beast. What color was the gixxer?

you sure it wasn't a 600? those damn things all look the same to me

I doubt it, if the new 600's could hang with the 14 I would be really disgusted!!

Brother, I love the ZX14. I will go to my grave a fan.
What you experienced was an inexperienced rider.
The only way that a 14 would beat a Gixxer 1000 is on a top end run where you are running towaered the 189MPH mark.

If everything were equal, you just can not overcome the power to weight ratio. With that said, I have spanked more than my fair share of squids because it is all in the rider (throttle and shifting).
It is definitely fun to piss in the Cheerios of some squids.

The 14 is designed for drags and smooth top end high speed runs which is does well! When you are playing with litre bikes with 160+ at the rear, beware because those little phuckers can walk you if you are not careful.

I always say, learn to ride your bike and dust the squids in the twisties. You can really bust some inflated egos there. The ZX14 handles very well for a big bike, and if you have the skills, they have a bad day!

JMHO, from a roll, the gixxer should be able to take you up to 150mph or so. From a stop, you have an advantage. If it were otherwise, everyone would be drag racing on a literbike.

I slaughtered a Yamaha early this season. Might have been a 600?? It was fun anyway.

I've been running around with two gixxer 1000's (06 and 08) an 06 R1 for the last two nights and none of them can hang with me from a dig or a roll(multiple tries from each). Until one of the gixxers opened the bottle on a 40hp shot, then he got me pretty badly. I didn't say the 08 that I started the thread on was a pro rider, but, I'm not either. I was still pulling away slowly, but, still pulling away. Anyone can tell me what should happen, but, all I know is what did happen!

That is exactly it, every time they hit it I would get on it and reel them in. The one with the bottle on the other hand I couldn't touch when he sprayed(to be expected). I'm going riding with some buddies from work in the morning if it isn't raining. One rides a 05(I think) CBR1000RR Repsol Edition, and the other rides an 04 ZX10R, both with full exhaust and dyno tuned.
