Sprocket

This is an aluminum sprocket pulled off my bike yesterday and I thought the clutch was slipping.

How many miles? I bet the teeth got just thin enough and then they started breaking!

I will stick with them. They last as long as a steel front for me. With turbo, frequent changes might get tiresome though.

Hey Rook,
The sprocket in your link looks similar to mine, glad caught this in time and seems like maintenance increased for me. My guess is less than 5K miles. My rides are within 10 miles of my home out on country roads. Since I fixed my fuelling issues the bike has acquired a nervous disposition. After 4 psi, I have about 1 second at WOT before liftoff. Not surprised about sprocket damage as I accelerate hard all the time. Put on a 45T steel.

That rear Braking B1 wheel I bought almost resulted in a highway crash. The secondary spacer was too short thus resulted in sprocket coming off its mounts. Luckily I was 3 miles away from home and ended up pushing. That jogging habit helped.

WOW! The sprocket carrier pulled right out of the coupling? OMG---that could have been a disaster. Glad you and the bike are alright? How about the wheel? Can you still use it?

The wheel is fine except for sprocket carrier bearing and one next to it on wheel.. Since secondary spacer too short, the torque applied by wheel nut plus torque from chain made the bearing collapse thus pulling sprocket out. Thus my weed run turned into a military style operation. I fully comprehend the stupidity involved in pushing a bike across 3 lanes of highway traffic after a curve, but we suffer for our art and motorcycle.
