Rear tire size

I have were some have been running a 200/55 r17 and love them. Just wondering if any body has run a 200/60 r17?

I've used 200/55s on my Gen1 and they come very close to the front inside of the swingarm with a stock wheelbase chain. The tire does expand in diameter at high speed but it never rubbed. I think using a 200/60 wouldbe cuttiing it too close. It might even touch at 0 mph. That's why I never tried it. Lifting the rear has a nice effect on turn in though.

Is the swing arm on a gen 1 the same as a gen2?

I'd say yes. '07 swing pivot shaft uses the later updated 0044 shaft. Linkage for the shock has remained the same. Rear brake mounts, hose position points to screw down, rear axle, all have not changed, where you couldn't swap gen for gen chassis parts wise and keep going to the front as well.

Be careful. I think I heard the swingarm is not the same between the gens. I'm sure the Gen2 has a couple more clips for ABS at least but it's possible the rest of the swingarm was updated too. If you're wondering about tire fitment, just ask Gen2 owners if they can fit a 200/55 tire with a stcok length chain and sprockets. Someone must have tried it. The Gen1 had a stock 190/50, I think. I went to a 190/55 and noticed a big improvement. A 200/55 is even better but I think that's as far as you go on the Gen1. I have a picture of measurements soemwhere.

Three posts down on this thread. ironheadmike was using a 200/55 on his Gen2. IDK what his sprocket gearing was butI'm sure he wouldn't have wanted to lengthen his wheelbase.

This is kind of crude but it gives you some idea. I was as careful as I could be about placing the tapes which mark the front surface between the swingarm legs and the center of the axle. If you do the same and you come up with the same measurement, I'd say go for it.

This is what a new 200/55 looks like with the axle adjusters on the second mark from the front on a Gen1. What do you think, will a 200/60 fit?

I think I heard the swingarm is not the same between the gens.

Then, the OP might need to research the years and see if they use the same shock mounts, swing bushings, because all I looked up was the swing axle to see if the diameter changed, but it uses the same. Wheel assembly is the same, because I used first gen wheels fore and aft on late swings, front ends, and wheel spacers. That's the same 3 axle sizes between gens.

There are two in question is shock to frame to swing mount positions, because this throws off how long or short the side mount arms were revised along with different cast mounts. But that's a lot of changes to recast the swing and frame just to change a hole a few mm. Punching out arm lengths are cheaper, right?

Only the other swingarm knows for sure.

The swingarm is different between gens(longer wheelbase)the shock linkage and pivot sleeve and bolt etc are the same part Nos. Frames are different also, I seem to remember Kawasaki saying the frame was stronger with extra bracing but as for shock mount differences, who knows?

I was running a P Supercorsa 200 series on my G2 2014 and I think there was about 1/2 inch of clearance

No problem then as long as the chain was stock length and sprocket was stock size too.
