I haven't had a chance to ride for the last week or so. The last time I rode it, the bike functioned flawlessly as ever. This morning, I pull off the bike cover to go to work, turn the key, the speedo and tach cycle etc. but then I hear a click and she won't fire. Their is also nothing showing on the display and no lights - oil check or neutral. The only thing moving or showing is the tach / speedo cycle.

I checked the ECU fuses etc. under the seat and they were all fine. After pulling them and replacing them I tried the key again, tach & speedo cycle and there is an audible clicking now under the rear seat. The lights are now on also - oil check and neutral. Still no screen display.

This is a bone stock 07 with no mods except Muzzy slip ons. I've only put around 1500 miles on it since buying it last Dec. Could it simply be the battery? Are there other fuses that I should check? Maybe a ground? Any ideas? I have had 0 issues with this bike until now.

Have you checked battery voltage. Thats the first thing I'd check.

I haven't yet - had to rush out to get to work. I think I'll change out the battery in any case - as far as I can tell its original and probably in need of replacement in any case.

I would follow Heathhun advice, then charge battery if necessary. Battery Tender's have worked great for me! Good luck!

Yep lovely battery issue funny I had to swap mine out today!

At least it had the courtesy to conk out while sitting in the garage instead of waiting until you got it to work.

Yes it was indeed nice for it to happen at the house! Luckily we have a place nearby that sells new batteries for the ZX14 for $59 and guarantees them for 2 years. I've had enough crap conk out on us this month to last a lifetime; including our AC on the same day as the battery. Rook's walk-through on the battery change out procedure really helped out too.

I've once had this problem and it turned out to be the main fuse. It's located in the battery box area between the tank and battery. This drove me crazy. lol The mechs that I had to look at it. Never thought to check the main fuse.

Look in the battery compartment between the tank and battery. you'll see a fuse box there. That's the mani fuse. It blew on mines and I had the same systoms as yours. I think it's a 30 amp fuse.

Jonandtay, you may want to invest in a good battery. The 14 is a big motor and takes a lot of amps to crank. You may find that cheap battery doesn't last as long as you were hoping. A lot of us have switched to Lithium ion batteries for just this reason. Or at least a high amp-hour Yuasa.
