Site Newbie!
01/12/20 8:44 PM

Hello everybody!

New to the site but not ZX 14's.

Previously owned a 2008 ZX 14 that I sold back in 2014. Went through several different bikes until I ended up back on one with a mint 2013 ZX 14 R that I purchased from a friend.

Been riding street bikes for 35+ years. Live in Southern Illinois.

Been a big bore Kawasaki guy for most of my adult riding career. Started with a 1999 REX 1100 that I had from 2001-2005. I then got a 2002 ZED 1200 in 2005 that I rode until 2008 when I got my first ZX 14.

I'm a member on another Kawasaki site and see a few of those same members here.

Enjoy motorcycles and everything that goes along with them.

Ridden all over the United States and usually make a run a couple of times a year to the Smoky Mountains in Georgia/Tennessee/N. Carolina as well as the Ozark Mountain Region in Arkansas.

Look forward to chatting on the site and possibly linking up somewhere for a ride.

Thanks!

Mike

Thanks for the welcome guys.

I initially wasn't too keen on the white but I have added a few more black and carbon fiber parts to set it off.

I have an extra set of side gills that I ordered prepainted white and black. However, the white isn't even close to matching the pearl stardust white. So, when it warms up I'm going to order some paint from Color Rite and paint them again.

I had never seen the panels done this way on a white 14. I think it will look pretty good.

Here is a pic where I just taped them up against the bike to show the difference in the OEM white and the white the panels came painted with.

Whatcha think?

BTW Grn 14.

Awesome felines!

Possibly Bengal or Serengeti?

Can't tell just by the face and front leg markings.

Thanks.

So, when it warms up I'm going to order some paint from Color Rite and paint them again.

The white of your grill does look lighter than the OEM color. I hope the color Right paint works for you but that looks good as is.

Yeah, the white grills IMO should be the same as the rest. With the black accents I think.Glad they don't have the red stickers on there.A mismatch IMO.I don't think you're gonna get a matching color with an aftermarket paint.I'd just buy the factory grills...they do come in that white, yes?
My kittys are American Shorthair tabbys. The brown BeBe probably has some mixing of Maine coon. I think the Grey one Babesy has some Eastern mix in her.Siamese or Abbysinian?IDK.

I was looking at some pictures of Owls in the forest sitting in trees. In the bark.Matching perfectly. My BeBe reminds me of those.Big eyes, camouflage colors.Sweet cat.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Unfortunately, the factory doesn't make the grills in white. Only in the black that comes on that model year and color scheme. I had hoped the manufacturer that I purchased these from would be able to match them.

Typically, Color Rite make s a good product that matches well. Guess I'll see.

In regard to your cats, Google a couple of Images of Bengal or Serengeti cats and have a look. They look very similar to yours in the face and legs. Regardless, good looking cats.

Me too!

I've heard the candy colors that Color Right makes can be difficult to match to OEM paint. I've heard my color, Midnight Saphire Blue, does not have enough metal flake in it to match OEM paint. It's also important to apply the paint properly to get the exact color with candy colors. I have purchased Color Rights frame color in a touchup bottle and it seemed to lack metal flake but it works fine for covering a small knick.

I have 2013 Golden Blaze green and painted my entire front fairing with a Colorite setup of spray cans.. I messed up one spot on the air intake about the size of a third of a dime biut other than that no one has been able to guess it was not stock after putting it back on the bike .. Very happy with results.. I would not hesitate to paint the entire bike .. follow directions especially warmth of the area ...

White look good. Welcome, nice bike.

Although motorcycles have broken my bones, they have greatly improved my quality of life. A fair trade...
