Spark Plug Change
05/04/19 9:16 AM

Hello all,
Well I decided to do a spark plug change on my zx14 at 7,000 miles. My shop wanted $350.00 to do the job and after doing so I can see why. So after reading the TM and various YouTube videos and of course Rook and his tutorials, nothing short of outstanding information. I felt confident in performing the task myself. In general I felt that the task is not that hard, however, it was very time consuming and the area you need to work in is extremely tight.

Here are my takeaways, first, give yourself plenty of time and be meticulous and take caution when removing the body work, I’ve actually found damage to my body work that was done by the dealership, but that’s another story. Second, patience, if you don’t have any get some before you start this project. It took me the better part of Three hours if not more. So in closing, if you have any questions about anything specific about how I completed this, let me know.

I did mine at 7500 too. NFW I'm letting the min wage knuckle heads at the stealership thrash on my bike if at all possible. Used the de-fairing vid from Brooks www. I have large hands but with the right tools it wasn't really much of an issue for me. Changed the coolant while I was in there.

Congrats. Glad you got it and glad the spark plug tutorial helped. I think that one was actually done by Spyglass several years ago but it was so good, I grabbed it and stuck it on my list.

Also, it's good for everyone to hear people be honest about the amount of time they spend on a wrenching project. You can avoid a lot of expensive catastrophes by taking your time.
