Vic, what I'm saying is the flash and used tires are a perfect match. Sitting up straight is control. Coming hard out of a corner with used tires, no, I do not recommend the move. As far as I'm concerned, I'm going to assume either the grunt is lower or it's lost and the OE was the better grunt master. So if you can't repeat the same loft the OE could produce, why wait around for the new tires if the same effect is going to occur [or even slippery-ear] it makes no sense waiting for a fresh new V profile hitting the patch and not an old U with more patch. Make sense now?

Jaysus.I couldn't WAIT to get C's flash(or any other ones)in my bike and hammer this girl.I'd be able to tell straight out even if it was raining cats and dogs.Rain=less grip=minimal center tread on dry ground=no excuses.

Shit Vic..if ya don't want to fire her up with yer new flash for your enjoyment,at least do it for C;)He deserves that.

With one stipulation...you must come back.No ridin off into the Sunset till the wheels fall off.

Hub, you're talking about worn tires being slippery, which brings up an issue I'm having with one of my bikes. I bought my '12 CBR1000RR new off the showroom floor in April of 2014. The OEM S20 tires at that time were already
two years old. They're now 3 years old and have 1700 miles. This bike is handling funky, scary actually. I have no confidence in the front grip. Agressive cornering and I keep getting front end slides. The front is no where near the wear bars yet but seems to let go way to early. Do these tires go 'off' due to age, get hard?

Tyres continue curing for a time after manufacture, then ageing sets in. Tyres will harden with age and will wear more slowly, definitely not a good trade on a sports bike. The rate at which they 'age' can be greatly affected by storage conditions. If the bikes been stored in a crate in away from extreme temperatures they will age less than if the bikes been sat on the showroom floor exposed to light, particularly direct sunlight and extremes of temperature and humidity variations. I have a caravan trailer and the guidance is change every 7 years but check regularly for signs of deterioration after 4 but performance bike tyres are a different ball game IMO. Given the time taken from the tyre manufacturer to Honda, then building and shipping the bike to the dealer, the tyres could be nearer 4 years old. I guess it's a personal call really but if I was having handling issues which felt tyre related then I'd be inclined to change them. JMO

Thanks Pegscraper, definitely ordering new tires for this bike. I have BT-016s on everything else so will probably order a set of those, good all-around performance tire.

that being said pegscraper, the first blade i owned was a 94, it was also the first bike that really tried to throw me off, my first expierience of a proper tankslapper, lock to lock, feet off the pegs, shook like a muthafookin ragdoll, i was amazed at how powerfula slapper it was , took while to get confident on it again, learned not to accelerate real hard on rough ground in 1,2,3 gears, thats when it would play bukaroo
