Pirelli Angel GT
01/22/16 9:02 AM

Installed Pirelli Angel GT 500 miles ago. So far I am very happy about its performance. This is my second set and my only experience with ZX14R is the OEM BS S20. I ride both F&R at 42psi. Angel is very sticky for ST tire. I have done several trips to Alice (Hwy 35) and felt confident on both dry and wet roads. Handling is neutral and leaning is easy. At 42psi, the ride is bit harder than S20 but doesn't bother me much. Angel seems to be better in handling those nasty rain grooves on freeways. I bought a set from Rocky Mountain ATV and they were great. Price was really good at $384 for a set and shipping was very quick. I am hoping that Angel lasts at least 10K miles as S20 lasted for 6700 miles. After 500 miles, the GT logo is fading but otherwise the tread looks good.

Funny, I have an Angel GT on the front and I HATE it. Very harsh ride, some vibration issues too. I guess they stick but it's hard to tell because I'k getting bounced off line so often. I'm going back to PR3's or 4s.
Maybe one of these days I'll see you around Alices.

Hi Mad,

True, Angel GT has pretty stiff sidewalls. It works for me because I ride slow. I have seen you once on Hwy 35 with your wife on the back seat and your ZX was like a red lightning. I am a slug...no accidents/tickets since 1976 and Angel GT works perfect for me.

"Maybe one of these days I'll see you around Alices"...hope so! I read your post on BARF from time to time as well and it would be nice to see you as long as you are parking your Red King Kaw

Hi Oldman,
I only go fast because my wife demands it...
If you are interested, pm me your cell number and I'll text you the next time we're going up to Alices for
breakfast. We have a group of around 4 and a couple of them are very relaxed pace riders. Love to share stories over some eggs and coffee.

I am on my third set of Angel GTs. Get about 7-8K per pair, although the rear (naturally) is shot before the front.

They are a little atiff and rough-riding, but that's the price you pay to get some miles. I paid around $270 for the last set. Looking at some Conti RA GTs for the next go-round.

Just bought a rear Angel GT A spec for 160.88 shipped from Dennis Kirk. Cheaper than the regular GT s.o I'll give it a shot

After 3000miles of rather easy right hand, here is how Angel GT looks
and rearthe logos are long gone but tread is still pretty deep. Pirelli Angel GT is very good ST tires. The only issue is that its sidewall is extremely hard and as a result the ride gets bumpy on rough pavement. Excellent traction, feel and stickiness regardless of the road condition - and this is obviously for my kind of riding. For people who wear out tires with 2-3K miles, ST tires aren't right choice anyway.

Oldman,

After your tires warm up the pressure goes up 3-6 psi depending on how hard you enter/exit corners and accelerate. Try dropping the rear to 37 and the front to 38 cold for you next ride. Unless the bike is loaded 2 up, 42 psi is to firm in my experience. 37/38 will not do any damage to the tires.

Hi Cruderudy,

Thank you for advice. I will try that and see how it will feel.
