Source for Stators?
09/19/13 9:42 AM

Hi all, I'm new to the forum and am trying to track down parts. I've put 42k miles on my '06 ZX14 and my stator / regulator have gone bad.

The bike has been at my local US/Texas Kawasaki dealer for the past few weeks and they have not been able to locate an OEM replacement (Kawasaki distributor states backorder with no ETA) nor aftermarket (Rick's states that it is discontinued). It appears that it is the same part for '06-'11 ZX14s and I find it hard to believe that Kawasaki would drop the ball so badly. And if so, ggggrrrrr...

Has anyone else had a similar experience?
Does anyone have a reputable source for quality stators?

Thanks!
Charlief

Did they say it was for sure the stator? If it's just a bad reg/ rec then you should be able to get one any time.

Sorry, cant help you with a source for the stator parts but I can confirm Kawi sucks for parts support!!

It took me 2 weeks to get valve shims when I did my 15K adjustment and the local stealership had to get them from Japan.

I have a spare stator and regulator. I'll get back to you in a few days.

Lo and behold, the regulator showed up at the shop unannounced yesterday and the stator is now showing an eta of a week, so I should be good to go. Thanks for all of the tips!

Here is some video of when the bike is behaving, filmed on Lime Creek Road in Austin TX.

This failure is kinda unusual for this cycle, but not unusual overall.

These oil bath, oil cooled, stator parts regularly go south on other cycles. So, I'm not surprised that one shows up here once in a while.

You said "Rick's", I assume you meant "Ricky's Stators", a quality after market part.

I personally believe ElectroSport parts are junk. YMMV.

If you still need a part in a week, I'll make an effort to help you get one. Let us know.

Caught this on another website I technically torment. Watch the vid. Check the other parts like the connector selections, etc. USA Made... mostly.
