If you mean can you replace the OEM speedo with a digital one, I strongly suspect the answer is 'no" for multiple technical reasons. However, you can buy digital speedometers or compact-sized digital "instrument panels" that are designed for 2 different markets:
- Dirt bikes,
and
- Racebikes

There is probably a "racebike" version that will work with the ZX, but it may require installation of aftermarket sensors. You could activate only the digital speedometer portion of the display by feeding the instrument 2 inputs:
- 12 volt power
and
- A signal from an aftermarket speed sensor that mounts to either the front or rear wheel.

The signal from the sensor is almost always "tunable" to reflect different tire sizes, etc.

I did a setup like this on a KTM dirtbike, and it was very slick.

I agree with you that analog speedometers suck, especially when they try to cram 0 to 200 mph into the display. I find the digital display MUCH easier to and faster to read, on both motorcycles and cars. However, SOME digital displays simply don't have enough contrast, and so fade out when in bright sunlight. This is an especially big problem when you are also wearing an auto-tinting faceshield so that you don't have to fit sunglass arms into your helmet.

This aftermarket racebike display is just one possibility that you might want to pursue if there is no better solution suggested by anyone on the forum . . .

Other riders have alleviated the "quick readbaility" problem by placing brightly coloured thin tape lines at the common speed limit points (e.g. 30 mph, 60 mph, 75 mph) and/or at their preferred cruising speeds.

Jim. Thank You. Very helpful. Your a wealth of knowledge. I have also downloaded an app thst does measure speed as well and just mount my IPhone.

The iPhone app will run the iPhone's battery dry in literally minutes, not hours! I know because I tried that when testing to determine the OEM speedometer accuracy. It seems that acquiring and holding the GPS signal requires a LOT of power.

Also, very important: Any iPhone before iPhone 10 is NOT even water resistant, let aloe waterproof (Guess how I found out - costly lesson). And the iPhone 10 will NOT take sustained rain. You'd need a waterproof case. Such a case necessarily makes manipulating buttons on the phone very difficult, and probably impossible when wearing gloves. Screen touch control is impossible with a truly waterproof case. :(

I cannot of course know if this product is any good in terms of quality and reliability, but . . .

https://www.ebay.com/itm/New-7Colors-85mm-Universal-GPS-Speedometer-0-299-MPH-Knots-Km-h-Motorcycle-Boat/332959430021?fits=Make%3AKawasaki&hash=item4d85edb585:g:KPkAAOSwlLlcF1td

It appears that it is completely GPS-based, and requires only 2 connections to the gage:
1. 12 volt power
2. The antenna connection (looks like they provide the antenna, and you just plug its cord in to the gage?)

Note that you have a choice of lighting colour. Since my ZX-14R is that vivid metalflake green, I'd likely go with the green if I were to do something like this.

You'd have to figure out a place to mount a mounting plate of some sort. Or, maybe, in either the lefthand or righthand plastic air intake "dashboard"? Note that it is apaprently 85mm = 3.4" diameter.

It proves there are products out there that could potentially work for you.

Another much simpler and less costly choice:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Universal-Car-GPS-Speedometer-HUD-MPH-KM-H-USB-Plug-Play-Overspeed-Warning/202749293888?_trkparms=ispr%3D1&hash=item2f34ccb540:g:NykAAOSwYNVdRVmy&enc=AQAEAAAB4BPxNw%2BVj6nta7CKEs3N0qV74z7mOtWwFaicuRN9I99XGl%2BWcjNqmHOMZVIYQUw%2FbWj8kXpD6EyqJSX93VgfgvQFYoinjY8Og3or%2FXkEENZOGcfzjZmKAmoCwt5DP9%2Bx1amGhEBxgTSnSiRVBdpdlAqtRkAyYnkkEy1nSH3Y5%2BK3DDGl65PFfxsmO1FQzcVsjlUACJNim2t4e%2B3admxQ4MeQ%2F83yZWSsIb6H8WUpMyjLeQqakMK%2FdTNe1oFBc69E5OFUod3zVaqgOE7Ki5YQ0kpB0OfOEmnalY4hz%2F2f9De7KdCc1n45Z2ncFhdXXxA31yE3emLpJAUlOQb5uUMWFpqYbnx7ifFYEOVp29Nq1ZYX%2FGl5mHG0KaSHjVJtyXXgJ6VFS2M11rKp5L%2BA0KF6sYdQtBDvTtlzcn8wM0Q%2Fe6ZvnxXqPoBQ5BUaXHC2NIs%2FbDH1mh2bd12MaKIjHBeKj%2FnXYbpQqa%2FWwWYZQ%2BUYyNRriS9vxbN%2Bjd%2FZeYjT%2Fgf%2FGPKPZ9HBr2VdC2Xl35C%2F8xZZxZ6zHr0qc%2B8Fiab70w3C9r37urNNzJyaN8Y86YbOzJ0XfH1rfQ4HGzKTuLYZ7L7hLdSgLBPS19ZIRD%2FB18nVNSVgDDlcu20zMbyfRsJs3A%3D%3D&checksum=20274929388831c03c94e22a46be8dd6ba9aa93171ff

I don't know how accurate this one is, or how reliable, but:
- It's very inexpensive
- It has LARGE digits
- It is USB powered
