Mother's Day
05/11/20 7:04 AM

Had another training day with David and his 2 friends. They were both on GSXR600s decked out with all the GoFast bits. Apparently mostly for show
I worked with David on cornering and lane position. Turns out he has really good lines and is looking through the corners very well. He's just having trouble judging corner radius and speed. He's 10 mph faster when he leads instead of following

Nothing new there.
I remember riding behind my brother when I was starting out and being completely amazed at the speed he entered and took blind corners on roads we didn't know.
But the more you ride, the more you learn, the more experienced you become and the better your technique is.
That was around 15 years ago and I'm no Marquez but now the rookies ask me how I take blind corners I don't know so fast.

Funny how the wheel turns.

Top job Mad.
Keep supporting and bringing that new blood through...

So am I but that's when I almost crash!

Looks like you had a lot of fun. No riding for me yet and I didn't visit Mom either. I'm stuck here like everyone else. The parents live 12 miles over the state line but I'm not allowed to leave Wisconsin unless it's essential travel. The irony is I can go to Milwaukee, Green Bay or Madison where there is a lot more Corona than my hometown has.

Mad gave the very first instruction and probably the only instruction needed. Like giving someone a pencil for the first time and the road is the paper. Look way out ahead and that line is YOUR LINE. It's an art in itself. The smooth stroke of the brush if you will. So on a blank piece of paper, you start with a squiggled line from the bottom up, or down. Then draw a line next to it so you now have a road full of apexes. The point of it now; is to straighten that road out from one apex to the other.

So you all sit around the lunch table, pass the pen, then pass your apexes around. Everyone will be different. Thus your own comfortable line. Follow your line, not the other guy's, because he's not the road. Get mad at yourself for not looking way out over their shoulders and back to the Mad-basics.

You break concentration, get MAD... at yourself. Make Apex Demand 100% Concentration or in the drink you go. Take videos of your ride, click it wide screen and speed up the video so you watch how smooth your are, screw the apex. It's obvious you are going to straighten out the road so baby steps you go. The slower you move from apex to apex, the more time to straighten it out, setup the next one down the road and so on. Ribbon smooth is the bow. Not like a ribbon around the box, you're tight as a drum on the grip. The less grip the smoother Newton straightens out the line.
