Hi all, I have a 2017 14R, My buddy Is tying to convince me, In the twisties and both bikes being bone stock, the Suzuki is better handling, so has anyone on board ever rode one of these, or even a 1000 Ninja (very similar)

It ill always come down to the rider. Since the Suzook is over 100 lb lighter, it would be much easier to throw around in the twisties. However, I love my 16 ZX14R SE and it is fun to ride in the twisties. The ultimate truth is, which of you is the better rider. The better rider will be faster on either bike.

My .02,

I can't imagine the 14 being as nimble in cornering.Or as confidence inspiring in twisties when the speed picks up.

Yep, rider dependent. A pro could probably dust a 14R on a 300. Equally gifted drivers at a typical track day and the Suzi may be quicker in the turns but the almost 2x torque of the 14R probably allow you to pass or at least keep up at the exits.

The Suzi is not any type of a super sport - not even close, but the 14R is a hyper-sport. If you are a good sport driver I think the 14R easily takes the Suzi in the twisties but to do so you are both way over any posted limits and driving dangerously unsafe on public roads.

Easy way to find out. Both drivers at a track day and see who has the lower lap times, in a safe controlled environment,

By the way, I was raising hell today on the might 14R, what a fucking mighty beast she is! The Suzi driver will never think that of his little girl.

I hear zip about Suzuki's race rep for the the last 9 years or so. I would have a look at which bikes are actually evolving. I think Suz has been pretty stagnant.

I believe a 14 would have it's hands more than full racing from 60 mph to 160 against most of the literbikes in the last few years. That's the real kind of racing you'd be doing on the street. Twisties, I don't think you will see a huge difference.

Yeah, it's gonna come down to the rider more than the bike. On the Tail of the Dragon you can see guys really tearing it up ... and along comes an excellent rider on a Goldwing hanging with them. I'm serious.

Not Harleys! HAHA ... serious, though, if you're not a very fast rider in curves there are guys out there on Goldwings that can whoop ya no matter what you're on.

Here I am, not a great rider, but on a ZX14, and I know how to turn that throttle wide open and am not afraid to so I can play catchup on most bikes on the straights, but my two buddies who are faster riders than me leave me in their dust on their Concours 14 and FJR1400 whenever feel like movin' out. They've got less power, more weight and higher wind drag, and yet still ... Sigh.

I had one of those for about 10 months and went back to a zx14 my 3rd one. Anyway i would have to say it felt quicker though the twists, not a lot but noticeable, you could really feel the weight difference felt like I was on my old 600. I just hated that bike, the vibrations , the hard seat, the very rough ride unless the roads were perfect , the twitchy throttle, wind blast was horrible, I had the naked version so no protection , unless you’re really good I sure wouldn’t bet any money on it, it is quick.

I should have mentioned riers being equall, gonna take one for a ride Monday afternoon, reason being is I ride with a great bunch of guys and they all have bikes between 50-150 lighter than myZX14R, and I always reelthem inonthe straights (da)

So the Suszuki weights 120 Lbs less, this should be substancail in the twisties, And I do realize I am gonna loose about 50 HP. I also had the dealer swapping tires If I decide to get one Perelli Angles GT's (apex) also throwing in a tall windscreen. For what I understand the 18 model has the better mapping to cure the twitchy throtle response everyone was complaining about. Stay tuned

thanks

The ZX-10 is making comparable hp to the 14 and so is the BMW and I'm sure the Yamaha. If you get a 2017 gixxer that claims to make 200 hp as well. 200 ho is the norm now. It's the torque you'll be missing out on. If you can maintain 70 mph, that's not going to be much of an issue.

Well I took it for about a 30 minute ride, I am keeping my bike, vibration, the brakes are not as good as mine, the shifting is poor and the gearing is to low 4 Grand = 60 the zx is 70, no centerstand available. you have to rev the motor to about 6 grand to equal the zx @ 4

thanks for all the replies
