Be careful old man! It gets more addicting you keep going out.

Yes, we can certainly agree on this point! As to the rest of it, maybe we can agree to disagree...

I wasn't comfortable leaning off the bike at first -- didn't want to have anything to do with it. But after some good instruction from Nick and company (who have worked with present day aliens like Ben Spies), I realized the benefits. Can't go back now... -bg

Nice vid, I hope Casey get more competition this season.

I am a novice when it comes to riding but I wanna agree with Bg. On modern sport bikes the drive out of the corner is crucial. knee down means less lean angle and therefore more tire to accelerate on NO?
Also with knee down you can steer with the rear at least more aggressively.

Few thoughts...MotoGP, AMA, WSBK, etc....they are trying to run maximum lean, for the shortest time posble. The more upright they are, the more they can accelerate and the more they can brake. In that Stoner video, he is not truly adding drive throttle until he can take away lean angle.

Stoner (and other champions) know, the fastest way around a track is to be acclerating the longest. Read this months Roadracing World with a series of articles I wrote and where it all starts.

Welcome, Ken! Thanks for your post!

Guys: Ken Hill is a lead instructor at the Yamaha Champions Riding School, along with Nick Ienatsch. Ken and Nick recently started FasterSafer.com, which is a website I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anybody who rides a motorcycle.

If you have any doubts about whether or not Ken knows what he is talking about, take a look at one of the racers he coaches, Elena Myers, who won the the second AMA SuperSport Pro race at Daytona a few weeks ago. -bg

Starting to notice FasterSafer.com decals on bikes @ the track.

Those guys are great. Glad to see the word is getting out about the website.

I have a full day private coaching session set up with Ken Hill at Miller on 8/31. Can't wait. -bg

I see that nothing has been contributed here since 2012. Great suggestions for track riders. Most of us are street riders and I have a suggestion for us street only riders especially those who ride mountain roads. Jim Ford has written a excellent book for us and also holds practical on road seminars. This is practical knowledge for riding fast and safe on mountain roads which is completely different from the race track. You can find information on his book and training sessions at www.ridersworkshop.com or reach him at jim@riderworkshop.com or 301-520-1649. If you ride on mountain roads or just curvy backroads get Jim Fords book "The Art of Riding Smooth". If you like the book better yet go to one of his schools. You won't regret either choice.
