Police ready, traps are set, webs of radar and tight corset
Ambush set begin to wait, anticipate...barricade that entrance, situate
Ready are they to close their trap, mighty Nation, won't fall for that
Buzz the tower, 200mph, grip that throttle we salivate
Like Pavlovs dog's we here the chime, they on hogs, boy's its dinner time
Blast a hole in outer space, rip the throttle, see that cop's face
Taunt and burn, insult the infirm, FTP is the song I learn
Riders of the storm, peek and torn, cops will fail to touch this bike porn!

I saw the start of 2 consecutive Cannonball Runs when they were a big deal, the first 3 or 4 years they did it. It always started at the Red Ball Garage in New York, and ended at the Portofino Inn in Redondo Beach, CA.
It was so cool to see the wide variety of cars coming up the ramp from the underground parking area where they staged. The rumble was palpable for many of the cars, it was not unusual for Ferraris and Jaguars and Maseratis to be mixed with Ford pickup trucks making 900 horsepower.
Back then, at least half the entrants ended up getting put in jail overnight for being 40 or more over the speed limit.
But in the first couple years, at least a dozen cars ended up parked at the Portofino in record time.
Today, your chances of getting arrested and jailed overnight are pretty much 100% when you consider all the miles, States, Counties you have to cover.
In 1974 I team drove my HemiCuda, towing a motorcycle trailer loaded down with a Z1R and two Army footlockers and scuba tanks and all sorts of junk, from New York to San Franciso and we rolled into San Francisco in 34 hours. And we weren't even in a Cannonball and we didn't get ticketed, not even in Ohio. But going through Nevada we let all the ponies of that hemi loose, and its a good thing the trailer was a really good one that tracked true, because we were pushing even the "safe and sane" mentality of the Nevada State Troopers.
