Regulator/Rectifier and Bracket Removal

You may need to remove the rectifier to test or replace it. It also needs to be removed before the tail subframe can be removed.

Tools:
10mm socket
5mm hex tool
blue LockTite
torque wrench

Do First:
Remove seat, triangular tail piece and tail fairings (see Fairings Removal, Tail Piece and Tail Fairings).

Removal
1. Use a 10mm socket to remove the two rectifier mounting bolts.

2. If the rectifier needs to be removed completely, unplug the connectors by pressing the lever down and pulling the connector straight back.

The rectifier plugs fit very tight. I did not remove mine. It feels like there is some vacuum that developed between the seal and the connector. Be careful and be prepared for a battle if you need to remove the plugs. It may be easier to remove the plugs while the rectifier is still bolted to the bracket.

3. The bracket is removed with a 5mm hex tool.

Installation
Installation is the reverse procedure of removal.

There is no torque spec for the bracket/frame bolts but do not over-tighten them because the threads are not in solid metal. The general torque spec for a 5mm bolt is 30~43 inch lbs. I’d suggest no more than 30 inch pounds and use blue LockTite.

Use a torque wrench to tighten the the bolts that fasten the regulator/rectifier to the bracket. The regulator/rectifier is plastic so I recommend using blue LockTite and tighten a little more than snug.

Torque - Regulator/Rectifier Bolts: 9.8 N·m (1.0 kgf·m, 87 in·lb)

Weight
Rectifier bracket and mounting bolts: 4.80 oz.
