That o-ring idea is a really clever life hack, but I don't think I would do it. One great thing about the Throttlemeister is that you can easily turn it off and on. Sometimes I'll forget to completely disengage the Throttlemeister and it seriously jacks me up by keeping the throttle from closing itself. Sure, you can just always remember to forcefully turn the throttle, but I've gotten really used to the throttle returning itself, and I'm not sure I want to learn the new thing. And having your throttle stuck partly open is especially bad news when you need to grab some brakes fast.
I suppose you could take the o-ring out to 'turn it off'. But that Throttlemeister is just: get to speed, small twist engages, small twist disengages. Super simple and with practice you can do it without even coming off throttle at all. I'm imagining comparing that to trying to roll the o-ring into place, and somehow back out of place while I'm getting off the highway... either that or leave it in place and have the throttle somewhat stuck... Man no way! That's more than worth the $80 imo.
Sorry to sound like some sales rep (I'm not), but when it comes to traveling, that thing just really is the best thing ever.
