2016 SE Build thread
05/13/17 7:00 PM

I thought I would start a build thread on my bike since there is no real information on parts for the 2016 SE. I've had my bike for about 6 weeks, put on about a 1000 miles in stock trim to try and figure out what I want to replace. I'm hoping what I post will help anyone out with a 2016+ bike. When I started ordering parts everything was somewhat of a gamble because nothing was spec'd out or tested for the 2016.

I got on the phone with GP Suspension and Dan Kyle to try and sort out suspension. I'm 6'5 280lbs so needles to say dialing in sag on the stock stuff wasn't going to be worth it. After comparing part numbers on 2012 through 2016 oem part finders, I rolled the dice and ordered FGRT207 forks and a KA208 shock sprung for my weight.

Exhaust I knew I wanted a single can. Brocks CT series stuff looked nice but everybody and their mother has one. I have had many Yoshi systems and I really liked them. I found Ivan's performance website and saw that he had mounted a 06-11 Akra system on a Gen 2. Rolled the diced and ordered as I've seen a few posts about guys here mounting but maybe having small issues.

When the parts came in I started wrenching. Working with Vendors was a challenge because when I placed the orders they told me that everything I was ordering wasn't going to fit the 2016, I myself wasn't 100% either.

So as of 13May17 this is where I'm at. Exhaust system on, forks mounted, shock mounted, water wetter in, and threw on a Zero gravity DB and Ram Mount. Only snafu was break calipers and lines. The 2016 SE comes with Brembo 100mm M4 calipers and with 310mm Rotors, The FGRT207s take 108mm calipers so I ordered some GP$-RX 108mm nickel plated bling. The stock braided lines are to short, specifically the line that loops from the right calipers to the left one because the banjo fitting are lower. need about 2 to 3 more inches. Ill be placing a call on Monday to Core Moto for some custom lines.

Ill update post when I get the new lines in and ABS system bled. I need to take a break from wrenching, I'm a little burnt out and frosted I cant ride. here are a few pictures of the progress I have made so far.

Made some progress this weekend. Installed the custom CORE moto lines for the calipers, and added Purple haze Titanium Pro=bolt fasteners to calipers and control mounts. Lines are bleed and pads are bedded.[img]

Lookin good but I 'm surprised you have not ditched the rear fender yet. Easy mod. You can get some kind of LED to illuminate it. The Gen has all the holes in the proper places to mount what you need. Use the Stock tag light connector for LED wires. I have a tutorial if you're iterested.

I have a carbon rear fender coming from Magical racing in Japan, double bubble in smoke carbon too. Stuff is hand made and was told 6 weeks before they would ship. Only thing I'm undecided on is rear sets.

Wow!! Go with the hugger I see there, too!

That lic plate holder is a nice CF bit but you can use steel L brackets from THD. Doesn't look like you're on a strict budget though, LOL.

More parts came in this week, Magical racing screen and fender eliminator. Not Sure if I like the ZG or Magical racing double bubble better.

Also put on the Purple haze pro bolt fairing kit

I go with aluminum bolts on everything that is none load bearing. Half the weight of steel. TI is about 75% of steel. It definitely makes your wallet lighter.
