Passing of a Great American
06/29/09 9:53 AM

America mourns the passing of another great legend in Michael Jackson. Surely no other person has ever embodied the attributes that make America great like this legendary pop music hero. He will be missed.

Apparently, all of the plastic in his face is being recycled and made into toys.... finally the tables have turned.... children will be playing with him!

Well, lets at least give this guy the benefit of the doubt here. He was never convicted of being a child molester, he was tried and acquitted in a court of law. Did he buy the witnesses and pay off the folks who brought the charges? I don't know, it's all speculation at this point. I personally think that Michael Jackson was a product of arrested emotional development...the Peter Pan syndrome at work here. There is a possibility that he just enjoyed being around children since he was never allowed to be a child himself and there really was no hanky panky going on as he claimed. Let's face it folks, this was a tortured soul, totally confused about his own identity. Couldn't decide if he was black or white, straight or gay, adult or a child..........confused. In the end he looked like some kind of pathetic store mannequin, a sad ending to a tragic life. I was obiously being sarcastic when I started this thread but have had some time to reflect on it since.

Maybe. I've heard that before. I don't care if his strange behavior was his fault or not, what freaks me out is how he remained an icon to so many adults no matter what crazy crap he did. Whether the guy was a molester or not, he was weird in any number of other ways. People still loved him. It just bugs me to see celebs advance their careers through negative publicity. Can't anyone just be good at what they do?

Rook, it's a sign of the times, just look at what is happening all around us. Right has become wrong, wrong has become right, lies have become the truth, evil has become virtue, indecency has become not only acceptable but exalted, to be celebrated i.e. Gay Pride Month. Obama is just a symptom of the overall disease. He will look you right in the eye and tell you he is for America's Middle Class while everything he is doing is designed to destroy it.......and yet his popularity remains incredibly high. It's all lies, hype, spin and BS but he's a "Rockstar". Who comes up with this crap and why do we buy into it??? I see a runty, jug eared, Afro-American without a lick of experience or common sense that has somehow bamboozled over 50% of the American public into believeing he has all the answers. And the scarey part is people buy into it....in record numbers. Obama says one thing and does just the opposite and Americans believe it....unbelievable! Americans have become naive, ignorant, self-delusional, living in fantasy land......shall I go on?? I fear for this country and it's future for the first time in my life. If America does not wake up and soon we are going to lose the very freedom that countless Americans have fought and died for. All destroyed by one America hating, Kenyan presidential impostor.

Sorry for going off but this stuff is really starting to wind me up.

You mean you're not going back to college with the rest of America?

MJ was pathetic to look at and to hear stories of over the last 20 years. Before that he was great. A real talented person and even a highly acceptable role model for youngsters. He had already been famous for at least 15 years by '89 so I don't know what happened to make him start getting so freaky. He coulda stayed a kid if he felt compelled to do so. I wish he had. He was a nice kid. What he became was not the way he was as a young man. After about 1990, I just started to feel sorry for him and to marvel at all the loyal fans he retained through scandal after scandal - and keep right on being a freak. Maybe he couldn't help it but that only makes it more amazing that he was able to hold the position he did to the end.

You and about 170 million other Americans hamr. Did you see Junes employment losses, another 500,000 Americans out of work and yet the government continues to spin the numbers and tell us the worst is over and the spendulus package is beginning to work. The worst is yet to come, mark my words, this is only the beginning. The GDP numbers are following the same downward trajectory they did in 1929-30 which means we are far from the bottom. It took four years to hit bottom back then and then it stayed that way until WWII began, a full decade of economic misery. The Dow didn't recover until the early 1950's. They say we get the leadership we deserve...GOD help us all if Obama is what we deserve. Prayer is the only answer friends.

OK rant off!

MJ was a seriously flawed individual. However, his music was spectacular. His music will live on for hundreds of years.

Farrah Fawcett, dies, goes to heaven.
St Peter says, "You have been so good, I can grant you one wish"
Farrah, smiles, and says, "I wish that all the children in the world could be protected from bad things"......

....then Michael Jackson died......
