Hello everyone, I have an 07 ZX14, and I'd like to do a tail conversion. I've seen 3 different ones, (ZX10, GSXR1000, and R1). Out of the 3 I'd like to put an R1 tail on mine. My question is, does anyone know exactly what I will need in order to make it happen? I'm not worried about the electrical part, I want to know do I need to weld or drill or both. Nope, I've only seen ZX-14 tails on 14s around here. The 14's tail is pretty much just the two pods and the triangle piece on the back. I'm sure you will need to change the tail light and probably cut the seat down. There are a few holes for brackets as well as the tail pods in the tail frame. You might be able to attach fabbed brackets to fit the R1 tail assuming that will fit around the frame in the first place. The only electrical part would be the blinkers and the tail light. If the R1 tail fits around the frame, It should not be too hard to hook up the OEM wires to the R1 lights. Buy some OEM connectors and hook them to the R1 blinkers. I guess you will need to cut off the OEM tail light connector and put an R1 connector on it to fit the R1 tail light.
