Akrapovic pics
05/10/09 6:56 PM

Here's the pics of the Arapovic full system I had installed:

DB killer is out here, obviously. Very nice sound.

Here is the DB killer getting put in. Just slip it in and tighten a screw.

With it in, it's almost as quite as stock. I couldn't believe how much quieter it is.

Stock HP was 165.
After with this pipe, PCIII, block off plates and flies out was 178.5 HP

Please ignore the chicken strips on the tire (it's brand new).
I had a new Pilot Road 2 installed AFTER the dyno tune.

That's about it for now until the next round of mods.
Thanks for viewing. I hope you enjoyed.

Just a note. I have the same exh on mine. With the cone in its very quite. With it out it went 119 decibels on a meter 3 feet away.

119db at what RPM?
That sounds WAY high.
The guy that installed mine (Kawi dealer) estimated mine around 100db.
I should get mine tested just for shits & giggles.
The limit in NH is 106db.
And the perceived sound level doubles every 5DB....I think????

And you're right, CHECKEDOUT, it's very quite with the db killer in.
I still don't know if I'll end up leaving it out or installing it and not looking back.
Are you running with or without? What are your opinions?

Corbin seat made from leather in a carbon fiber embossed print.
Fits good, as opposed to others whose Corbins did NOT fit well, and is very comfortable with room to move front to back during a long riding day.
Fortunately, everything worked out OK because, I hear, their customer support sucks.
I DID have to call them during initial fit. They helped me with it and I'm satisfied.
I've had Corbins on the last 3 bikes and all have been great.

Hey ROMANS, I'm curious.
Are you running the db killer in or out?
I'm finding that I feel a bit "obvious" with it out as far as sound level and that I'm more willing to goof off with the bike (playing with all that power) with it in (and that's a good thing).
And in town and with traffic, the sound is a bit loud. At speed, I don't even notice it.
I use the bike for commuting purposes as well as on weekends.

It was 119 DB at 11K. We had a bike get together with a poker run, portable dyno and loud pipe contest. I did not win the loud pipe, but won the HP shootout on the dyno. LOL. The DB meeter was about 3 feet away and just behind and off to the right side of the bike.

I'm gonnna see if I can get mine tested for db at the dealer to see how close it is to the limit per state inspection.
Should be interesting. They already passed it with the db killer OUT. I'm just curious.
I'll report back later on.

I have never had it in. I got used to the Muzzy Oval slip-ons first. I would describe the sound from the povic as one of the Muzzy slipon pipes. So you can imagine the sound of two povic pipes. To me they are not loud. The guys I ride with have the M10 .....NOW THATS LOUD .... So far I would say the only 4 into 1 pipe I have that I have heard that is quieter than ours is the yosh. You will get used to it quick. And the top end power is awesome.

Looks real nice!!! Too bad it took Akrapovic so long to produce an exhaust in the "Hexagonal" style for the ZX-14. They lost a sale in me.... I just couldn't wait!!!

gumbybob, FYI double the amplitude is 3db

Roughly what did you guys pay for the systems? (slip-ons/full systems)?

I'll have to look and get back to ya on that.
I found it wasn't much, if any, more than the Ti-Force slip-ons I was also considering.

O.K.- The pipe was $1334.00
The price went up a couple weeks BEFORE I ordered it. I think it was around $1100.00 before.

Looks great, Gumby Of course you have the fastest color
I went back & forth between the Akra & Leo Vince. Finally settled on the LV because of the shorter can & (2) A/F ports.
But I really like the Akra!

Where did you get it tuned. Where you happy with the service? I'm in upstate NY, not that far from you, a nice through NH on Rt9. I used to race at Loudon (NHIS). I actually remember when it was called something like Bryer Motorsports?

I had it tuned at Souhegan Valley Motorsports in Milford NH.

The owner of the dealership is the lead mechanic that tuned the bike.
He's a 25 year old kid that graduated with a business degree in Entrepreneurship and picked up the dealership soon after. He races at Loudon and, of course, does all the work on his race bike. Very mature and down to earth for such a young age. He spent a lot of time getting my bike right for me and I am very satisfied.

I love the additional performance with the baffle out, but can't stand the noise. It's not the high speed sound that bothers me... it's the 3,000 to 4,000 range while cruising around town that drives me nuts. Anything above 4,000 rpm and it sounds pretty sweet.

I quit dealing with that mid-range kinda "growl" from my pipes....silicone earplugs baby...every ride!
