Why aint you on one then big boy? Where you gittin 150 lb difference, the K8 is 477 wet, '08 14 about 560, less than 100 lbs?

No harm no foul Taint, we figured they got mixed up. That new Beemer liter bike may be the hot ticket or maybe the RSV4 from Aprilia, I hear that ones like a small 600 chassis with big hit power. I'll stay with what I got though cause I still can't use everything I have.

From Kruz -- I'll stay with what I got though cause I still can't use everything I have.

I can't get used to the 14 and it scares me. The thing is stupid fast after 100 mph yet does not seem like speed is picking up as fast as it is. The bike decides to lift at unexpected times then I put it down out of fear. I can do the same thing on my REX an not worry but then it is not quite as fast.

well big boy ..instead of reading about weights .. go to the drag-strip and ride onto the scales there .. you will find them books to be WRONG ..

MY BIKE WITH A TURBO BOLTED ONTO IT WEIGHTS IS 535LBS WET WITH 2 GALLONS OF FUEL ..

And the gixxer guys strip down there bikes to just the bare minimum ..i know of 3 bikes with a 150lb to 160lbs riders only weighing in at 590lbs total with rider ..so the bike is at wet weight 440 lbs (mostly stock form ) .. yes i know thats 95 lbs . but theres a couple with carbon fiber wheels and strip down even farther and go 400lbs wets ..

IF you want to know what your bike weight is just go to a TRUCK STOP AND GET ITS WEIGHT FROM A CERTIFIED SCALE THERE .. DOT approved and verified to be accurate by the weight and measurements department

My CBR is an easy 100 lbs lighter than my 14, has less wheelbase, tauter suspension, less trail and a steeper steering angle and yes it is quicker in the turns but not night and day. The CBR is known as a nimble handler among the liter bikes but the 14 is right there with it in most situations, I'd say close to 95% the capability of the smaller bike in all but the slowest corners.

Kruz are you sure its not even close man. The zx14 is a nice bike but in terms of handling it’s like comparing a big block El Camino to a zO6 Corvette. If you can't feel the night and day difference between the two bikes in the twisties you are either ridding the zx14 way to fast or the front tire is flat on the CBR.

I think the 95% rule is pretty close to the mark. For example, I noticed one turn I can take comfortably at 106 mph on the CBR I can take at 101 -102 mph on the ZX-14 with the same level of comfort, that's about 95%. If you're racing thats significant but if you're out play riding it's not that big a deal. At parking lot speed corners the CBR actually feels a little too quick to turn in probably due to the HESD while the 14 feels really solid. The 14 is a sweet handler for it's size and weight. Peformance wise, even after giving the CBR the full Yoshimura and PCIII treatment, my 14 feels faster, especially in the roll on department. It's too bad you don't live nearby, we could swap rides and get your impression on both.

So you think is it possible that a stock 09 zx14 or 09 Busa is not as quick as a 1000 once the bikes are rolling? You mean to tell me a stock 20005-2009 GSXR1000 or even a 06-09 ZX10 or God forbid a 08-09 CBR1000RR which is lighter and has more mid-range than all of the aforementioned 1000s can accelerate quicker than a stock 06-09 zx14. Man you must be crazy that just can't true. How it it possible that a 570lb bike making 10-15 more peak hp than a 440lb bike not accelerate as quickly. So what’s next you are going to tell me 1000s handle better than a ZX14 or Busa right …..yeah ok that will be the day. GEEE were have I heard this before I guess we agree after all. The ZX14 is still a better street bike.

I don't know which is faster in a roll on. If I could find someone I trust who weighs roughly the same as I do (225 lbs) I'd like to conduct a series of rollon tests and find out which one really is quicker. Right now my butt dyno says my 14 would own my CBR, butt dynos have been known to lie on occasion though. In quick side to side transitions the CBR has a definite advantage but in some high speed sweepers, especially with less than perfect road surface, I still prefer the 14's smooth handling. I have no axe to grind either way, just trying to report it as I see it.
