I guess man00 doesn't kn00.
It's always a challenge, when reading these threads, to separate fact from opinion. Here we have a simple enough statement..."It doesn't help cooling." It's not I think, or I heard, or it's not proven, or IMHO... It's very finite and defies disagreement. Too bad everything can't be settled that easily. I think I'm going to have to go back out to the shop now and remove the fan cause i've been told it doesn't help cooling.

So the story has a happy ending. Muzzy sent me a new fan for free. I installed it no problem. It works without problems.

Does it help cooling? I don't know. I changed too many things at one time for proper accessment. Besides adding the Muzzy fan, I also put on a ceramic coated headder and removed the headder with catalytic converter. I put on new M4 slip ons, and loaded a new map into the PCIII. It now seems to run cool as a cucumber, although I haven't put it through its paces to test.

Only problem I have now is that I don't know if I should remove the Muzzy fan or not. I've been told it doesn't help.
Gee, can anyone tell me what to do?

Yo Blue,
I'm getting my 08 headder ceramic coated soon. When I put it back on the bike it's nice to know I can pay someone to take it.

Question - how much end play is there on the fan motor shaft?

I used one in the past and seem many posts, very few if any cooled any better than stock. Kinda like having the switch that turns the fan on..I see no point. The muzzy fan having metal blades won't melt as I seen a few of OEM ones do..

Of course changing the fan is not going to help the bike run any cooler but you can bet that when the fan does kick on the Muzzy fan will pull the temp down much quicker than the stocker. It was worth every penny in my opinion and a good mod to make.

DEK...you're absolutely correct. The purpose of the fan is to pull air through the radiator when you're stopped. On most automobiles the fan freewheels at over a certain speed. Otherwise when being turned by the motor it can actually inhibit the air flow at faster speeds!
The Muzzy is better than stock at cooling in its intended purpose. And, if you can install it with absolute minimum bending of the blades, it is just as quiet as stock. When I installed the fan Muzzy sent me after my complaint, I just barelybent the blades. Mine runs quite quietly.
