Interesting read here Hub.130? yer just gettin started! You'll never win on a bike if yer usin it to get payback.Period.If they get too close to me...and here...there's PLENTY of open road for anyone to NOT tailgate...I just turn around in the saddle and give em a nice stare for a second or two. It's amazing....works EVERY time.(course, then I normally gas er....stay rollin for a mile or two...they don't show up any time soon, and if they do,they're BACK a ways...not sittin on my rear tire. These bikes are so amazing.I just LOVE my 14!There's a definite difference in technique for riding a badazz sportbike, and a dressed cruiser. Two different animals. If they started out on something quicker and more manueverable, then went to Harleys or something like that, they may understand a tad more about riding safely and aggressively. Those big bikes just won't handle like a sportbike. It's easy to judge here...but simple things like push left,go left,or vice versa are "easily" forgotten in an emergency filled with panic.Got to keep yer head when something comes up.Plus there's no way of knowin WHAT exactly caused the crashes.Even Rossi's can crash when ya think they couldn't.

My point...the car weighs 4,000+ lbs.The bike weighs maybe around 600 give or take with rider(okay...more).Ya...I agree on the "get clear" mode. But to purposely piss some cage off to "prove something"...nah,you never know what's going on in someone's life.Remember "easy rider"? Ya...it still can happen.I amend my statement my man...you DO win on a bike....as long as yer NOT ASKIN FOR IT.

"Ride Report" takes on a whole new meaning when Hub gives one.

Well...Hub does share his ridereports...that's for sure.I should share more of mine I guess. This bike can be intoxicating. There are some here who would "boo" any talk of passing the speed limit(on a regular basis). But MOST of my fun and enjoyment comes from fast, hard riding. What can I say?Sounds like the HUbster has a blast pushing his baby through her paces.Ya...me too.Cruising at 70,80....taking sweepers and such IS fun.But can get monotonous pretty quickly. So I up the pace, like Hub,and get my adrenaline going QUITE OFTEN.I love feeling my baby roll planted in a deep, fast curve.Get that left hand on my thigh there.Roll on with throttle and dig in.She's way solid. Most fun I've ever had motorcycling.Rollin through the sweeper switchbacks...just great.Pickin an inside line, tiptoein along it and push a little more...ya...it's a blast.I'm gonna be dead someday....whether on my baby or not.But I sure have fun...speed limit or no.I still think I'm a safer rider than most drivers out there...bike OR cage. It's the whole picture...not just ME on this fast azz bike.Seein how far I can go till I hit someone. No way.I learned a few things since I started ridin fast bikes.I think my main lesson was...ride my own ride...if I don't feel right about what's going on with ME...then I try to listen to that and pay attention.Even if it means stopping for a while to get things clear again.I would say that MOST of my riding is calculated...familiar roads.Past experience with em,and so on.I don't like surprises when I'm rollin along on two wheels at a good clip.Luckily, this area of the country doesn't have the serious 4 lane traffic and such that some or most of you guys have to deal with. But there's definitely some real winners here when it comes to being asleep at the wheel.I've had my share of "oh shit" moments from some other guy "just drivin along...lost in the ozone".

I'm with Hub on that one...I separate myself from traffic as soon as possible...whether on a 4 lane or two.People in cages have a nasty habit of hittin their brakes when they really don't need to IMO.And if it says 60 mph...shit..man,go 60 will ya...not 35.Or else PULL OVER so's the rest of us can safely continue on!The thought of bein rearended just doesn't thrill me at all!!!

Geez...I personally don't like runnin autos with my bird.I "might" follow one...IF...they're runnin 90,100 mph.(follow as in ....plenty of room to stop if need be).But mostly I try to get around and clear of any drivers here.I don't know about cruisers much...but I do know that our badazz bikes "inspire" other drivers to generally(at least the middle aged drivers and younger)to start haulin ass when I get behind em.Don't really know WHY that is.Maybe they think they can "up the ante" somehow. They've really no idea how fast our birds can fly when we want em to.That's MY impression.90's good....100's good.I'll hang back and draft a cage. He'll get the ticket...not me!WoHoooo!

That would be the infamous "diamond lane"...yesss...I used it well when I lived there! They still allowing bikes to "split lanes" on the diamond lane?I used to "stupidly" ride that narrow double yellow between the "D" lane and the fast lane.On a Harley no less.Hit a mirror more than once...OOOOPPPPS! (the Highway Patrol Bikes were doin it!)

Duck Soup...those Harleys. At least ya got one to bite.Here...they see ya comin in their rear view...they friggin pull over and let ya go by.Nutso I say.So...........I FOLLOW em for a ways...you know...let em get a look at a REAL motorcycle. They've NO idea I'm as "old" or "older" than they are."Blast from the Past" takes on a whole new meaning when I finally light the candle and am "throttle up to 110 percent".Gone baby...all she wrote.I LOVES my 14!!!!

WOT I really enjoy...is following these "hard core, full on leather dressed riders" on their bikes.I get behind em...at a safe distance you know...no pressure...and just watch "how" they ride. You can tell they're nervous up there...cause they keep blowin their lines, and they're movements are like...."this bike's riding me"...not the other way around. So funny.I laugh everytime. They're so....."predictable".I had a couple of younger guys ahead of me one time...amazing...they actually were rollin quite well...over a hundred on the straights. For a bit. They tried to play "badass Harley outlaw riders" when they saw my Jap stuff in their mirrors.WHEEEEEE.So,natch,I toyed with em for a spell.Let em think "ya...Jap Crap can't hang with this American Iron".Came time to pass that Semi haulin doubles.Nice straight. We're rollin over a hundred as it is.I was third back.I see em lookin in their mirrors...probably thinkin..."should I?" They didn't have the cajones.I lit up my blinker, got my headcheck, downshifted twice.Gassed my baby.It was over in a heartbeat. All I saw was that semi back there...gettin smaller and smaller.NO SIGN of a bike anywhere.

Got on up the road ahead..a few miles.Pulled off and shut er down.Took off my helmet.Lit me one o' my ceegars.Yep.Sat back in the saddle.Life is Good!..Then I hear it...Potato Potato Potato.Er they come...lookin "badass"..their black leathers flappin, their blacked out Harleys. As they went by,I just waved to em.The one guy "kinda" glanced over...Oh well....it was a GREAT day of riding(for me anyway).

Ya....went to pass a semi...rolling into the center "painted" median, stripes going diagonally,I was gassing her.Felt very odd...the way she was "jumping" while accelerating.Stayed in the throttle, swept on past that big azz truck, back into my lane again. Then it hit me..."oh,yeah....THAT's what it was...those painted lines on there".It was an interesting feeling.

Better watch those same direction left turners Hubster. You know...those ones that are gonna make a left that're up ahead of ya...going the same direction. Two folks (again) got killed here recently passing a "left turner".Ya...he made his turn, just as the Harley was in pass mode.Slammed right into the car's driver side.Killed almost instantly.Pity really. When "waiting" could have avoided it all.(perhaps 3 or 4 seconds of patience).I'm guilty as well...I've done exactly what THEY did....and got "just missed".I'm way better now about just backing off and seeing if that cage is REALLY gonna make a turn.I look up ahead and see if there's any driveways on the left hand side there...someplace they might choose to turn into.ONLY if there isn't do I make the pass.
