gotta scout out your rout first always but even going at legal speeds, that could put you down especially at night.

I thought this was an urban legend, a myth but I guess someone or some people really have a morbid sense of humor. They will be spotted and caught or worse, some poor soul will die. Should that happen many of us will push enthusiastically for harsh punishments.

I'd hope someone getting caught doing this sort of thing would face some serious punishment but I highly doubt that's the case. How the hell someone justifies this type of thing as some sort of... justice for whatever they're pissed off about is beyond me. I guess they don't feel they have any other recourse as to whatever is happening that drove them to this.

I would say they deserve a good ass kicking. But then, I can see how they probably have the same view of a lot of sportbikers and assholes with gay pipes.

There are a lot of curves on that mountain road adjacent to long steep down slopes where if you went down and slid over the edge you could end up 1000 feet down a mountain where only the rattle snakes and Coyotes would find your body

I passed by the very road a few days ago before I knew about the oil, I went just a little way,
and turned back around to go to a different mountain road, Thank God ......

A road near me with a few nice curves always has sand on the curves. There's a couple houses right on 2 of the curves, but the cops can't do anything. No proof. VERY slick.

Joe average with two kids whom saved for his Harley and chrome pipes, or sport bike with a full system and happened to choose this road, and rode through should die! His dependents and wife, should definitely suffer because he made the mistake of riding the sand covered road and interrupted those residents solace - having coffee on their deck. And of course the po po can't do anything about it. It's not public mischeif or anything. Sad. Not directed at you alligator, but I'm left scratching my head at this situation.

In Canada we have a charge of mischeif, acts that damage property or lead to a person's injury. That might fit nicely here. When a thousand bikers take a day off and show up to that persons court date, I'm sure it would make that resident quickly rethink his/her's practice.

You know whats weird ? there are no houses up there ! that's what is really hard to understand,
no one is really on that road during the week, (don't go up there on the weekend)

And popo COULD set some one up there to spy, like they do so many other places to give people
$300 tickets for going 10 MPH over the safe speed limit, but that won't happen ....

Like others have said, it could get VERY dangerous, as there really are not any guardrails up there,
and are many steep cliffs ... this state is full of assholes, period, just ask anyone that has moved
here from a small town etc ...

Well add this to the list of what to look out for while riding. Car/van/truck drivers, Law Enforcement, some of our wives, cyclists, pedestrians, and most of our neighbors are either gunning for us or oblivious and ignorent to us. The list just keeps growing. I catch someone doing that I swear their getting permanently altered in more ways than one. Its also very dangerous for cars and trucks. Honestly the police should be investigating this, remember serve and protect!

We had this happen on Hwy 9 here a few years back.Ended up a car crashed in it before any bikes went down. Then there was the homeowner who strung a wire across a dirt road near his property. Almost killed a guy on a dual sport. I think he got a felony charge. Assholes all.

Grab a broom throw it in your truck drive up to where the sand is and sweep it off the roads. Obviously never assume it won't be there, but do that a few times and they might stop putting sand on the road.

Hard to imagine someone doing this kind of thing to intentionally cause someone to crash - so juvenile!!! First reaction is to be ticked off, but also does highlight the need to as much as possible not scare the crap out of other motorists or angering locals by stunting in inappropriate places or ripping through residential areas.

Does make you want to wring the person by the neck if it really was intentional.

Wolf; Unfortunately, unless the police actually see someone putting the sand down, no proof of who did it. Obviously the homeowners are suspect, but not necessarily guilty. Plus the cops said there are a lot of complaints about speeding bikers in that area. Luckily I wasn't one of them, or I'd have gone down.

Vic; First, I don't want to stand in the middle of a 55 mph. curve, sweeping the road. Dangerous enough riding, let alone sweeping. Second, I don't want to be seen doing anything with sand in that area. Who knows what someone would think of some guy sweeping a road in an area where there's complaints flying.

I suggested to the police that they should post a "Dangerous curve" or "Sand on road" sign before the curves, but I doubt anything will happen. This is an area with tar/chip roads, and one day I came upon a foot high pile of chip at the start of where they were spreading it. No warning sign in sight. Luckily I happened to be cruising slow. Even the County is out to get us around here.

I'm sure the canyon road gets way more and faster traffic, and oil is dangerous to cars too. I didn't mean to take away from the OP. Just frustrated as riding is getting more and more dangerous.

There is a nice road called the 507 not far from toronto,a few years ago some was putting oil on a corner, another road called the river road some one was putting sand in the corners.Ive made a habit of cruising the favourite sport bike roads before running them quickly

Personally I would want to take these butt wipes in to an old wooden barn, clamp their nuts in a vice, give them a rusty butter knife, and then set the barn on fire!!!

If you have a problem with speeders this is NOT the way to solve it, no excuse for putting someone's life in danger!

If your tampering with roads to sabotage motorcyclists than you should befall the consequence of the accidents you created. I would sleep well while incarcerated knowing I expressed my disappointment to a sand trap leaving low life.
