That sucks on your filter. Unfortunately malfunctions like this happen time to time. On youtube a guy was running a high end filter (Wix if I recall properly) and the seal blew out. So he put an orange fram on the car instead (you know, the ones with the cardboard).

Good on you for noticing. That's the most important thing of all, above the brand of filter or oil.
