For the fairing experts out there
08/26/15 12:57 PM

Just assembling my bike after working on it and came across this clip on the floor. Heres 2 pics. One showing the size of screw that fits. I search over the bike looking for places these screws fit and can not find anywhere where this clip might fit. I had the from cowling and all the side and lower cowlings off. Anyone recognize this? Thanks a bunch.

Oh before anyone suggests its the piece to hold the side cowling to the very lower cowling, in this case its not. I have those clip/nuts in place already.

Looks like it might go on the radiator. That looks familiar...but can't remember where I saw it.It definitely doesn't go on an 'outside' painted surface...the clamp would damage any paint. And it doesn't look light enough to be attaching to a plastic piece.Perhaps around the wiring harness somewhere in there?Slipping over a black plastic inner part?Where's the bolt?

It looks like it slips over a flange in there somewhere, something metal. To hold something else with the missing bolt.

You ARE having a time with these parts...aren't youLOL.

Maybe a fan assembly stay?

How about part number 92015.On the fan stay assembly.Looks like that's your part...Hooks on the top of the radiator...the fan assembly appears to bolt into it.Looks like two on there.Maybe?

I looked on the 2012 model parts fiche(cheapcycleparts website).

92015
NUT
92015-1487
$3.29
They're showing 6(needed)...so IDK.

I'll take a look. Yeah having fun with this. It's because I had to wait for some specific tools and parts to come in so the bikes been down for 2 months! Now trying to remember is the hard part.
but the thing is there is no screw left over for it! That's the hard part to figure out.

If it IS that fan stay...it would be very easy(kinda) for it to work loose, come out while riding...and that'd be that.It appears(if that's what it is)that any bolt going into it would tighten up against a flange...yet the clamp itself wouldn't deform and get tighter. So it COULD vibrate outta there if the bolt was gone?(maybe it was in your fairing and fell out when you removed?)It's not 'thinner' like that other piece that can be flexible.

They don't show that piece very detailed..so it's hard to tell. But it looks like that's what it is.Let me go look on mine...BRB.

Yep!Bingo...it's right there on top...to the outside of the radiator top...there's a flange(tab) on the radiator.Look straight down from the triple tree just aft of that on the radiator top..now look just to the left(left side of bike orientation). It's right there..it's holding that plastic cover in there.Yours could be on either side...so there's your part;)Book calls for six btw.

You da man. It was the clips for the TOP of the radiator. The weird thing is, I have never taken the rad off ever! And how it ended up 10 feet away from my bike I have NO clue. Thx a tonne

And the other part was there was only one of these clips kicking around. The other one wasn't even on the rad. Not sure where that disappeared to.

Now that I put the from end together and taken the bike out it sounds like there is something dragging. I can hear it better when I am going slow of course but can't put my finger on it where its coming from. I don't think its the brakes. I touch my rotors as soon as I park the bike and not heat on them whatsoever. I had the whole front end ripped apart so not sure where this faint sound is coming from.

Here is a pic of the left and right side of the top of the radiator. These are what you are talking about. The bolt that is in there is just a substitute and not stock
