pistons

Hi All, due to a small hiccup with a fuel pump I ve had a small, well not so small issue with my engine, would anyone have a set of standard pistons from an early gen 14.
Considering the amount of damage that has occurred I am still amazed as to how well it subsequently ran.
It had a slight tap for a couple of revs on start up and then cleared, the only give away was vapour , and not much coming from the breather once it had got properly hot. The damage can clearly be seen, a number of holes in the pistons showing the top rings on three of the cylinders and damage to the block where the top ring stops at its highest point. I m going to get it repaired and re plated It was difficult to tell whilst riding!
I was thinking about changing the compression and still may consider it but like the way it behaves off boost cruise.
I would be grateful of any assistance.......

Andy

I have Je turbo pistons, wrist pins lowered 2mm to move ring land down 2mm and prevent exh reliefs from burning like stock pistons do. Ceramic coated dry film on sides and thermal coating on top. Carrilo rods to Match, Rings and studs. With the thin head gasket 10.5 to one. I "here" you would not notice much diff before boost comes in. Up the boost ?

Andy when I had that problem, I filled what I would call the frost plugs in the top of the pump with JB Weld, still going strong today in new bike.

When the plugs first popped out I did not notice at first. How I found out was looking at my Auto Tune maps and saw Auto tune sent 30 % more fuel to my top end runs,,,, Saved my bacon. Great parachute for the save. Injector duty must have been at 100% but still bought me the time needed to find the issue. Wide band 2 cheap in comparrison to the doe and down time. Thought I would pass this on. Cheers.

No I do not have that gasket,,, I have thicker ones for More lol

Send me a ping on my home Email.
