Today's Dyno mapping results
06/13/19 1:09 PM

Finally got the bike mapped today.

2009 ZX14
PC5 w/ Autotune
Gutted stock exhaust with slip-on
Schnitz Racing ECU flash
BMC air filter
Kansas City area. Mid 80s temp

Ended up with an 8.65hp gain and extra 4.39 torque.

Max hp today was 168.81. I found this a little confusing, maybe you guys can clear it up. He said a lot of 14s like will read around 190hp, but that he runs his dynos in SAE and not "corrected". He said he prefers an accurate reading of what he saw the day and place he did it. Does this make sense to anyone?

Anyway here's the data and a quick video.

Gen I vs Gen II (2012+)

Jump in hp on 2012+ (different motors)

190+ on the Gen II's (exhaust/tune)

170+/- on Gen I (exhaust/tune)

Not going to get 190's on Gen I

Numbers look right in there.

This is from my 2006 I had set up with a tune via the PCIII done on a typical warm day in Oct

Baseline map was the $50 Jeffo Special. This plot says SAE Smoothing 5, I dont know how the data reduction compares to yours, about 179 HP and 105 lb-ft torque. Bike sure seemed faster and had better throttle response after the tune.

I bet you have a smile on your face after the tune -Right??

Thanks for the info guys!

I thought I might get more HP with the few things I've done, but still happy. This fall I might start looking for a full exhaust setup, the tuner recommended a 4-1.

And yes, smiles did happen lol! I haven't plugged in and looked at the AFRs myself yet, but I told him I daily ride it so he said he mapped it pretty moderately until after when the bike would be doing around 70-80 and richened things up after that. I definetely noticed a nice punch at those speeds on the highway today, and the bike runs generally smoother across the rpm range.

The 4-1 exhaust will probably get you a bit more but what you really want is more torque. Maybe talk to the tuner about how to get the most torque when u do pull the trigger on a full system. Unless your game is the 200 mph club at the TX mile the HP is pretty good now but more torque will really help with increase the acceleration.

Will do man, I'll be doing some research for sure, full exhaust is expensive!

Brocks or Akrapovich. Buy the best and buy once. I'd be curious to see the numbers after you have a good aftermarket header on there. The stocker has those balance pipes so you have some turbulence from that even if you pull the cats out. I'm guessing a full system will get you about 10 hp more than you have now.

Ivan shows some pretty good results.

=================================================================

All stock 2008 ZX14
Vs.
Full Akrapovic exhaust system
Sub-Throttle plates removed
TRE-006A
PC3 & Ignition Module W/Ivan's map

Similar results can be achieved w/Yoshimura full exhaust as well.

I had a full Yoshi on when I got the tune

I still think they are one of a couple of setups that look best on a zx14

Thanks for the data! Can anyone testify to a justifiable gain from removing the 2nd set of throttle plates altogether? Or does the advance the Shnitz Racing flash put on them do enough?
