Crank case hose on turbo'd bike
07/01/09 8:50 PM

I've been venting this hose out and down the side, then just a tad under the backside of the oil pan. That got the oil out onto the street/ground. Before this routing and removing the crank internal tube I was getting a lot of oil all over the area the hose vented. There are blue oil fumes (smoke?) from this hose.

I was thinking making a hose port on the back side of the filter to the tubto inlet and routing this hose to that. Ala, no more blue fumes, but there would be a very small amount of oil heading into the inlet of the turbo.

Do you all think this would cause any problems?

oil causes detonation

but what you can do .. is put a t in the vent hose and run 1 end to the kleen air solenoid and keep the other end free venting like you have it now ... at idle the fumes will be pulled into the kleen air system .. after idle it will vent normal.. kleen air system only works at idle

Interesting idea. Never heard of the kleen air system. I will look into it.

Another individual had an interesting idea as well, and that was put a small double hose barbed fitting off the crank hose that you attach a small to fresh air mid-filter, then the output of that double barbed filter connector goes to the backside of the turbo filter.

As I get what he said, the oil can pass out the small mid-filter to the ground, and only the fumes get sucked into the turbo inlet filter.

Time for research into the clean air system!

Thanks for your idea.

kleen air set-up is the ports on top of the valve covers that your bike come from factory with .. its designed to pull fumes or vapors from airbox at idle and burn it thru the exhaust ...never going thru the combustion chamber... most people use muzzy's block off plates to block it off and stop the backfiring ..but thats a myth .. but it is block off on a turbo bike 1 way or another and not in use

it only works at idle .. but thats the only time you smell the vapor or fumes from crank case..when your moving its not an issue

Bad,

I think that is the hole with a hose, where I put a marble in the hose as a possible solution for stop backfiring - which did not work for me. Since the turbo install, the marble is gone and the thing is blocked off.

That would be a pretty simple method!

Thank you!

correct the hole with the hose and marbles.. i'm taking it the marble is in the hose that went to the air-box and the solenoid is still attached to valve covers ..if so all you need is remove marble cut hose straight ans tie into it
