What is going on with my front tire? The back is doing the same.

Maybe the 'compound' strip is showing where the two rubber compounds lay on top of each other?(if that tire has that feature).Seems to follow that sipe around the circumference.Perhaps you either wore the other side line down,or you haven't worn down that left side(as sitting on the bike).Have a favorite turning direction?

Dude, you have more tire problems than anyone I ever heard of! LOL That is weird. Never saw anything like that. ...and you have the exact same thing on the rear??!! that's even weirder! I'd guess it is a flaw in the manufacturing since both tires are doing it. Maybe the whole lot has the same defect. I agree with Grn that it looks like a seam between center and side compound ...possibly...but that would be a rather narrow center compound, most fronts only have two compounds. If this is a three compound tire, I'd say that is it.

I've never heard of a tire that failed from poor manufacturing. I believe they inflate and test every tire. This might be a defective tire that slipped past without being detected.

Like the nail in the tire, looks like you are close to wearing this one out. I'd replace the tires ASAP.

aliens?

afaik the stock M5s for 14R aren't dual/multi-compound model, but I could be wrong. My tires have 3700 on them now, haven't seen anything like this. I inspect my tires every 400 miles.

The crack/defect seems to be in the center of the contact patch area which is dirty, maybe you were taking a lot of similar turns one ride and stress caused it to appear?

Contact your dealer I think your bike is new enough this should be covered under warranty. If both tires are doing this, could very well be a defect. If you run lower than stock pressures, maybe air them up before taking it in.

Rook you are so right. Bad year for me with tires.

Bike does favor pulling to the right. I thought this may due to the age of the tires. The tires Both are Pilot Powers. Mfg date front is Aug 2008 and rear Sept 2006. But what would cause them both have this line appear at the same time?

Btw theses tires are on my 03 sv650s.

That's wild. I looked all over my bike, I was sure something, somehow was touching my tires leaving those lines. One of my close friends is a bike mechanic and he was stumped as well.

Thanks for posting this woo. You're the man for figuring it out!

Now I'm a bit concerned though. My tires don't have this line!!!
