05/13/09 6:44 PM

Well a freind and I are getting ready to go on a week long ride starting Memorial day weekend to the next and end up in Salt Lake for the World Superbike races! We plan on riding into northern Washington and some of Idaho and hopefully down the coast.Anybody that lives in these areas please chime in with some suggestions on great roads to ride.I'm trying to complete the trip I started last year when I headed up the coast from L.A. up to Eureka,Ca.Just want to put some miles on the 14 and have a grand time riding some awsomw roads!!!

Well, if you are planning on making over to north-west Washington, you should ride the North Cascades Highway (Hwy#20), it is fantastic. Actually Hwy#20 is a great route across the enitre State.
And if you want some real added fun, cross the border and dip into the Kootenays in south-east BC.

If you hit 101 (coast hwy), in WA, be sure to head up Hurricane Ridge (outside Port Angeles). Some nice twisies and it was repaved last summer. Plus you get a great view from the top.

If you can work it in, try to ride the east side of Mt. St. Helens from Randle, WA to Hood River, OR. Pretty big detour from the coast but very worth it.

Sounds like a fun trip!

Ninjamaster, sounds awesome! That was some miles you did! Hope you really enjoyed it. Am jealous! The weather in Cape Town is non-biking at this time of year. Rain, rain, and more rain.
